Have you seen what passes for a professor and a university degree these days?
If the teachers graduate from these types of liberal universities how can they possibly teach what they themselves did not learn?

I’m quite sure that they have the literacy for DC but no one can read it.
…I remember one teacher, you a young Black woman in her very early 20s, who was to be my son’s English teacher when he was around 12. We met her at an open house, and she handed out a syllabus titled “Ms. Yolandas (not her real name, but similarly missing punctuation) Bangin’ (found the apostrophe) English Class”.
Which was riddled with spelling and grammatical errors as it attempted to convey all the Black militants writings that she would be extolling, along with lessons celebrating multicultural sentence structure.
We left immediately and got him placed in another class. They hadn’t crossed the stupid horizon fully at that point, but we did end up yanking him completely not long after that.
Side Note:
Evidently she meant the “Bangin'” literally, even if she didn’t know the word for it, because she was found later to be having after-hours parties with several of her larger adolescent students, which the school was pretty tight-lipped about, but word was that such sessions were open-legged classes where the focus shifted to Sex Ed, proving pedophilia isn’t JUST for the boys. Seems like there was a LOT of that around then, if you remember all the “pregnant teacher” stories a decade or so back.
…one wonders if she taught them the words for that…

Public schools in D.C. can’t be Prussian enough and that’s just to maintain a minimum level of literacy which isn’t all that impressive in the first place. Suddenly switch to “distance learning” and the bottom falls out.

I used to know how to spell and punctuate, but after 35 years of receiving e-mails, texts, hand written disasters, I have no Idea anymore. I think we all realize that English is not really spoken on job sites any more and I really have no ability to practice.
