Federalist– Republican Tommy Tuberville unseated incumbent Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in Alabama Tuesday night, with a crushing 25-point lead when 66 percent of the votes were reported.
The win is crucial to Republicans seeking a majority in the Senate. Jones’ seat was considered one of the most vulnerable by Democrats.
Tuberville, a former Auburn University football coach, said during his victory speech, “I’ll be guided by conservative values and vote for a majority of the people of the state of Alabama.”
A majority in the Senate by itself won’t mean as much as it could if Biden wins since when he does most of the current Republicans there will make a shift to the left to please him.
They’ve only been conservative while Trump has been there because they were pushed hard for it by him, and if that push is gone they will follow their natural tendencies and go left.
It’s what Republicans do.
