Hillsong Megachurch Pastor Fired After He Admits To Cheating On His Wife

Daily Caller: Carl Lentz, who brought the popular Hillsong megachurch to the U.S., announced he was fired  after posting to Instagram that he cheated on his wife.

“When you accept the calling of being a pastor, you must live in such a way that it honors the mandate,” Lentz wrote in an Instagram post. “That it honors the church, and that it honors God. When that does not happen, a change needs to be made and has been made in this case to endure that standard is upheld.”

“When you lead out of an empty place, you make choices that have real and painful consequences,” Lentz wrote. “I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that. This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions.” more

  1. I don’t know much about Hillsong but I’ve always thought of it as more in the category of a personality cult, centered around the teachings of its founders, than as a biblical Church centered around the teachings of the Bible.

    But maybe I’ve been wrong and need to be educated about it if I am.

    Feel free to do so if I’m off base about this.

  2. Looking at the family picture and even not knowing the dynamics, if he’d cheat on that he’s got a serious problem.

    Was it with a hooker?

    Picture lewd comment regarding his wife’ looks…

  3. …never a fan of churches that don’t name their Sponsor.

    I worship God and Christ and the Spirit. You know, the Trinity.

    I do not worship “hills” or “songs” or “hillsongs”.

    Just like I would not worship in a place named after its pastor.

    He may be a nice man.

    But he’s a man.

    I don’t worship men.

    And this story is a good reason why you SHOULDN’T…

  4. …and he did disqualify himself.

    Biblically so…

    “1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

    2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

    3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

    4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

    5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

    6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

    7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

    8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

    9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

    10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

    11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.”
    1 Timothy 3:1-11

  5. “…I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life…”

    Ummmm, not exactly. The most important relationship in your life is with Jesus Christ. The relationship with your wife follows that which you have with Christ. Unfaithful to one pretty much explains unfaithfulness to the other.

    Now, having said that, there can be redemption and forgiveness if you truly repent. That is soley upon you.

  6. …Jeremiah would know this guy…kind of biblically, but not THAT kind of biblically…

    “10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.

    11 For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord.”
    Jeremiah 23:10-11

    …and the Lord gets kinda mad at guys who fail his Church, so, yeah, like @stirrin says above, I’d worry more about the Lord than the Mrs., were I him and claiming to be a pastor…

    “1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.

    2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.”
    Jeremiah 23:1-2

    God doesn’t like folks who maul the faith of others, even if NOT pastors, so be careful there, guy who brandished the wrong staff…

    “Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.”
    Romans 14:13

    …I had problems in my faith walk for the longest because of first pedophile priests, then televangelists more worried about their money than their message, so I know how a stumbling block can look when its ME it stumbled. Not making excuses, just saying it took me MUCH longer to come to the Lord because of the cynicism that watching flawed men pose as holy bred, and to this day I will NOT attend meetings where church finances are discussed because I do NOT want to hear it, but that’s just me…

  7. I’ve never heard of them. It’s an Australian outfit that opened up across several countries.
    I’m not gonna deny somebody going to get some religion but once in a while I come across 30 to 60 year old pastors
    who dress like Criss Angel. It’s just weird.

  8. He’s a reprobate cultist. The church doctrine he follows is not based on the tenets of Christianity, it’s a mixture of new age, witchcraft – self love, me first doctrine and religious dogma that mimics Christianity.

    No, not taking back my accessment of Hillsong. It’s just one of many churches that have left the true faith relationship with Christ- The Word, the Father and Holy Spirit behind.

    This makes me angry, because I know from personal experience how corrupt reprobate evil doctrine can be. American Christians are to easily fooled by Satanic agendas. My young BLM, SJW pastor now calls himself a Life Path Guide. Not his exact title, because I don’t want you clever people looking him up – protecting my ID.

    He’s a PK – preachers kid. Somehow his solid Christian parents, both pastors, who for over thirty years correctly ministered to me, missed it with him. He sounds like a preacher, but his sermons are all about self empowerment.

    I pray for my pastor, but I want to be in another church. I know I have to trust God’s will. I stopped listen to him online four yrs ago. His mother is still a wonderful Pastor. Sad her son is such an idiot and a typical example of weak Christianity.

    As for the mealy mouth twerp and possible freak who cheated on his wife, no surprise. He definitely doesn’t have faith in the True and Living God to do what can be done, when faced with temptation. Nobody is perfect and that’s percisely why we go to God with our weakness so that HE can be our strength.
    Praying this guy repents for real and truly knows Christ as Savior and Lord – again, would not be surprised if he did neither.
