NEW YORK (77WABC) – The NYPD says an officer on his way home from work shot a man who attempted to carjack him at gunpoint. It happened just after 2am in Canarsie, Brooklyn on Tuesday.
Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison says the officer fired after the suspect shot at him. Harrison said the suspect knocked on the officer’s car window with a gun. The officer then got out of his car and that’s when suspect fired a shot at the officer, missing him. Police say the officer returned fire striking the 26 year old suspect in the chest. more

If the perp did not think off duty officers are armed, he knows it now. The officer should be commended for his marksman ship under fire.
