NYPD officer shoots would-be car jacker

NEW YORK (77WABC) – The NYPD says an officer on his way home from work shot a man who attempted to carjack him at gunpoint.  It happened just after 2am in Canarsie, Brooklyn on Tuesday.

Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison says the officer fired after the suspect shot at him. Harrison said the suspect knocked on the officer’s car window with a gun.  The officer then got out of his car and that’s when suspect fired a shot at the officer, missing him. Police say the officer returned fire striking the 26 year old suspect in the chest. more

  2. if you go to the ny post website the video is in the “metro” section unlikely color of either will be released Officers are not even supposed to put a perps race over the radio any longer i have been retired for a bit so if there are any young guns on this site let us know if that is still in practice also, the papars in nyc do not publish race
