Diamond & Silk: Portland Police have been given the authority by Mayor Ted Wheeler to utilize “all lawful means” to put an end to the illegal occupancy of a local home, according to Fox News.
Protesters have gathered at a North Portland residence for months on end to fight the eviction of a black indigenous family.
“I am authorizing the Portland Police to use all lawful means to end the illegal occupation on North Mississippi Avenue and to hold those violating our community’s laws accountable,” Wheeler said on Twitter.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the Portland Police Bureau have made seven arrests and removed trespassers from the “Red House on Mississippi.
The trespassers were court-ordered to leave the property back in September.
After the arrests, more protesters gather outside of the home and proclaimed, “Red House Autonomous Zone.”
Wheeler said, “There will be no autonomous zone in Portland.” more
