Ex-Con Hired by D.C. as Violence Interrupter Arrested, Charged with Murder

Judicial Watch

In a curious twist, a “reformed” criminal hired by the District of Columbia’s chief legal officer to help curb violence has been arrested and charged with murder. The case involves a taxpayer-funded public safety program known as Cure the Streets launched by D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine to reduce gun violence by treating it as a disease that can be interrupted and stopped from spreading. Cure the Streets typically hires men and women with criminal histories as violence interrupters because they know first-hand about the challenges that residents of crime-infested communities live with. Racine, who was reelected to a second term in 2018, says the transformed criminals hired by his program perform community-driven public safety work that can avoid using police.

Here is how they carry out the task, according to Racine’s office: By interrupting potentially violent conflicts because they have relationships and influence within targeted neighborhoods. Violence interrupters “engage with the community to learn about brewing conflicts and resolve them peaceably before they erupt in violence,” the program’s website states. Violence interrupters also identify and treat individuals at high risk for involvement with violence by meeting with them and implementing individualized risk reduction plans.

  1. Wait until they interrupt a pedophile that’s hammering a 6 year old boy and put him in charge of protecting daycare centers and elementary schools.

Unlike a stupid liberal democrat, I can actually foresee a problem.

  2. It worked. He violently interrupted someone’s life.
In grandpa’s day this was called “putting a fox in charge of the chicken coupe”.
Today, we are more sophisticated and woke than that.
    YEEAAAH.

  3. They knew who they were hiring: a thug to train more thugs for the left. He did his job, and he’s disposable.

All that’s missing is michelle obama in jackboots (wide enough to put a telephone pole in).

  4. “Cure the Streets typically hires men and women with criminal histories as violence interrupters…”

Wasn’t Saint George Floyd employed in a similar ex-con scam?

That’s a rhetorical question. Of course he was.

  5. Sat on a jury for a woman who’s car was stolen from a auto dealership while it was in for repairs.

The security company for the dealership had hired a convicted car thief and gave him the weekend night shift for his first assignment. Only took the first weekend for him to grab the keys and the car.

They never did a background check!

When the prosecutor displayed the regulations for working in security, I saw it was the exact regulations my scope of work had. No convictions for theft being one of them.

We gave her all but one of her asks before we got to the punitive part. She was at about $3,200 at that point. Pretty small considering what she went through and the stupidity of the security company.

The woman asked for $90,000 to $180,000 on that part.

I was pretty well P.O.’d at the security company by the end of the trial, as were the other jury members. Their lawyer did them no favors by the tack he took. I was jury foreman and had great pleasure in delivering a $350,000 judgement for her. The way she jumped up out of her chair with relief and joy was a sight to behold. She went through a lot of hardship because of their greed.

If you ever consider hiring Silver Star Security, I advise you not to. They don’t really care about you. Their lawyer made that clear. Stupid lawyer. Stupid, selfish, greedy, and dangerous security company.

I think whoever approved of and hired this violence interrupter instigator should be held accountable for this result.
