Charles Barkley says pro athletes ‘deserve some preferential treatment’ with Covid vaccine due to taxes paid

BPR:

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has always been a lightning rod for controversy, but he may have gone a little too far with his take on pro athletes being given preferential treatment when it comes to the coronavirus vaccine.

In a discussion about the vaccine — the sports world today spends almost as much time talking politics as they do analyzing games — on TNT’s Inside the NBA, Barkley pointed to how much these athletes pay in taxes to justify jumping to the front of the line.

An assessment that only reinforces the perception many have about elitist athletes earning tens of millions of dollars for playing a game.

“Three hundred million shots, give a thousand to some NBA players, NFL players, hockey players,” Barkley insisted. “Listen, as much taxes as these players pay, let me repeat that, as much taxes as these players pay, they deserve some preferential treatment.” more

  1. Those “Pro Athletes” can go straight to Hades. I have no time, sympathy or concern for kneeling, anti-American hypocrite that protest against perceived injustice they claim America has perpetrated against them while they make millions playing children’s games.

  2. I am going to make an unpopular comment here–I couldn’t care less what Charles says since he doesn’t make policy. He has an opinion and, for now, he is allowed to express it and people are allowed to criticize his stupidity.

Former fans are giving these athletes preferential treatment, we quit going to their games, viewing their games so much so, that they are paying less taxes and losing millions and millions in lost revenues. They can have my death jab, it’s yours, take it, I’ll treat you ever so fairly. 🙂

  4. Have never liked basketball. Played it as a kid and got bored running back and forth in the gym. So have not been interested in watching grown men or women doing it. And, another thing, I am not going to get in line for the Chyna virus shot; but, I might be tempted to shoot athletes who disrespect our FLAG and National Anthem!

  5. I was going back through the media “fact checkers” who said Trump was lying about a vaccine being available by election time and ir would likely be mid-2021 before anything would be distributed.

And that the companies were holding off on announcing anything before the election.

    Fact check: pants on fire.

Then, Moderna and Pfizer announce a week after the election.

By week 1 of January, he’s already “bungled the rollout.”

    Just can’t win can we?

  6. It’s true. They probably pay a lot in taxes and child support to various people, right before they file bankruptcy because of what seems to be an inherent inability to handle money, ultimately costing the taxpayers who don’t play with balls for a living.

  7. It’s a catch 22 Barkley is engaged in here. A lot of black people I know say they don’t trust vaccines because of the Tuskegee experiment.

So if you give it to them, you’re experimenting on them and if you don’t then you’re a racist who wants them to die.
