Jeff Bezos to step down as Amazon CEO

‘I intend to focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives’

(CNBC) — Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will leave his post later this year, turning the helm over to the company’s top cloud executive, Andy Jassy, according to an announcement Tuesday. Bezos will transition to executive chairman of Amazon’s board.

Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 and has since morphed the one-time online bookstore into a mega retailer with global reach in a slew of different categories from gadgets to grocery to streaming. Amazon surpassed a $1 trillion market cap under Bezos’ leadership in January of last year — it’s now worth more than $1.6 trillion. more

  1. Bezos says he hasn’t had any input into the Wapo’s direction. I find that hard to believe. Anyone seemingly as intelligent as Bezos that says AGW is the biggest threat humanity faces is a bald headed liar.

Took 26 years to get to the 1st trillion, looks like he’ll make the second in under 2. I try to get anything I order online from somewhere besides Amazon. Their customer service is pretty damn good.

  2. Yo, Jeffy. Some day you’re going to have to stand before The Lord, who’s going to ask “What did you do with all the blessings I gave you?” There’s a ladder to heaven and a highway to hell. Do yourself a favor, give that some thought. It’s not too late.
