Last I checked, Patrick Mahomes was a pretty good quarterback. Yes, the Chiefs gave him a huge contract, but if I could negotiate a $500 million contract with my employer, I would. He’s been in the league 4 years, a starter for 3 years, and has been to two Superbowls as a starter. He’s fun to watch. He’s arguably been one of the four or five best quarterbacks this season. (Brady, Mahomes, Rogers, Allen, Herbert).

At my work, they have two distinct awards for Engineer of the Quarter and Black Engineer of the Quarter. I’ve always been curious what would happen if the best engineer in the company was black. Do you give the black engineer both awards? Do you give him just one? If so, which one? If you don’t give him the black engineer award, you’re stealing his blackness. If you give him the racially qualified award, you’re denying him full accolades.
