The long time political dispute between California farmers and state and federal water regulators predates the latest drought and will continue long after, unless some political honesty takes place.
Most of the media and public officials paint California farmers and ranchers as the biggest water wasters in the state. Yet California’s farmers and ranchers have made huge strides in improving efficient water management over the years — it’s in their best interest to do so, not only economically, but to save and conserve natural resources. Farmers and ranchers are some of the best, most efficient and effective conservationists California has.
Yet California farms and businesses are starved of water year after year. Lawmakers and federal environmental regulators annually authorize billion gallons of water to flow out to the ocean, instead of being used for human consumption.
This is environmental extremism at its worst, and it is killing California agriculture.
Currently, about 2 million acres, which is the equivalent of 1/4 of California’s irrigated farmland, is receiving only 5% of its water supply, according to Kristi Diener, third generation farmer and water expert. “North and South of Delta Central Valley Project farmers were told they would receive just 5%, and with crops already planted, that has now been changed to 0% until further notice. Other areas have had their supplies cut by 25% or more. 60,000 acres in Northern California (Klamath) won’t receive much, and could end up being 0% as well.” more here

Booth industries are vital to the Calif economy, but SOCAL suck up too much water from the north when they should build DESAL plants on the coast but they don’t want them on their beaches.

I live in a State that does not even border California, but we have to allow a large share of the water that originates on and flows through our land to be piped to California.
We generally see Californians as people who enjoy criticizing others for how they perceive our environmental stewardship, but are in reality terrible polluters and wasters of resources, including our water.
“Political honesty” That’s a contradiction in terms if I’ve ever seen one.

Communist and fascist want Californians to be water deprived and energy deprived, so they can control them – and loot them. Hence, no new water projects in CA for decades; no new power projects, either. Just democrat looting the state.
