Oregon Counties Vote To Consider Joining Idaho

Idaho Statesman:

Idaho could be getting a lot bigger if some voters in Oregon get their way.

Thousands of people in eastern Oregon voted Tuesday for their elected officials to consider ditching their state and becoming part of Idaho.

Voters in Sherman, Lake, Grant, Baker and Malheur counties all voted for ballot measures that would lead to them becoming Idahoans. People in Union and Jefferson counties had already voted in favor during the November election.

The ballot initiatives called on county officials to meet to discuss and consider a border move to Idaho.

Baker County’s election results weren’t yet available on the Oregon Secretary of State’s page, but the Baker City Herald reported that a majority — 3,064 to 2,307 — voted in favor of county commissioners “meet(ing) three times per year to discuss a proposal to include 18 counties, including Baker, as part of Idaho.” read more

  1. This is one of those ideas that is just so delicious and tantalizing to think about, but will never ever happen. Kinda like the last part of last November when I was hoping the election would be overturned and reversed due to the exposure of massive election fraud.

  2. Yeah, no. What happens if Idaho becomes Progtardia in a few years and Oregon has an (unlikely) attack of common sense and becomes more conservative? Grass, greener, etc.

  3. …no Democrat state will let go of the people that actually MAKE the money they need to steal, Deminion will be there to make sure the “vote” is “fair”, plus they’ll just spread their cancer North and East into it anyway like they did with Northern Virginia, so nice idea but not happening…

  4. I’m still hoping everything west of the Blue Ridge Mountains joins up with West Virginia and leaves the socialists in Richmond, Tidewater, and Northern Virginia to live with the consequences of their votes without our farms and trucks.

  5. Since both Oregon and Idaho were made States and their boundaries defined by the Federal government when they were, I wonder how the effort will be played out at the Federal level?

What are the issues and procedures involved there that will need to be addressed?

It will be interesting to watch develop.

  6. It’d be easier to just wall-off Portland, Salem, Eugene and Corvallis and then hit them with small neutron bombs. With a 1/2 hour warning, of course. 😀

  7. Just some randomness. If you look closely at a map of America, the border of Montana & Idaho in particular. It looks like Joe Biden is sniffing Idaho. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
