Mexican police chief killed in hail of bullets

yahoo

The police chief in Mexico’s north-western Sinaloa state, Joel Ernesto Soto, has been killed while he was driving to the state capital, Culiacán.

Local police said gunmen had fired some two hundred bullets at his car.

Soto had survived an earlier ambush three weeks ago, when the convoy he was travelling in was attacked near the city of Mazatlán.

The state of Sinaloa is notorious for gang violence with the Sinaloa cartel the most deadly and violent.
It is not yet clear who may have been behind the attack on Soto.

Sinaloa’s state security secretary, Cristóbal Castañeda, said Soto had been on leave and was returning from a trip to see his family when he was ambushed.

Mr Castañeda said Soto was travelling with his bodyguards but had decided to keep a “low profile” and travelled in a “discreet car” when he was attacked.

The attack comes two months after gunmen killed 13 police officers and agents from the state prosecutor’s office in central Mexico state.

Last year, more than 500 police officers were murdered in Mexico with many targeted by the country’s powerful criminal gangs and drug-trafficking cartels.

  1. On my last trip to Mexico in 2018, the gated entry to the resort I stayed at had four heavily armed officers wearing full body armor and BP helmets. All four carried full auto AR rifles and side arms. Three of the four each had 4 spare 20 round mags and four grenades on their vests. The fourth guy had a full auto AR that was belt fed and he was wearing two loaded belts across his chest and over his shoulders. He looked like the old Mexican Bandito with the scar under his right eye. They had two armored Ford 350 pickups with steel crash bars in front and steel plates with little slits for the back and side windows. Even the tires had some partial steel plated protection. Once we entered the private road to the resort it was like a surreal Wizard of Oz moment where the black & white poverty of Mexico transformed into this lush Technicolor world of flowers, fountains and exotic birds. You have to hand it to those cartels, they treat the tourists very well.

Coming soon to the United States via democrats open borders policy. Pickup flack jackets soon for the whole family.

The difference is we still have citizens armed to their teeth.

Mexico is much more limited, yet they still put up a fight and sometimes win.

Never give in to the gun controlling left. They want you dead. It’s our last bulwark against globalism.
