American Airlines canceled more than 300 flights Saturday and Sunday, many because they couldn’t staff crews for the planes, CNBC reported.
Bad weather in the south and other factors led the airline to reduce its flight schedule by 1 percent in the first half of July, reports said.
That reduction will “minimize surprises at the airport,” said a statement from the company provided to The Post.
“The first few weeks of June have brought unprecedented weather to our largest hubs, heavily impacting our operation and causing delays, canceled flights and disruptions to crew member schedules and our customers’ plans,” the statement said.
“That, combined with the labor shortages some of our vendors are contending with and the incredibly quick ramp up of customer demand, has led us to build in additional resilience and certainty to our operation by adjusting a fraction of our scheduled flying through mid-July,” the statement went on. more

Brawls in the airports. Brawls on the plane. At least in the car I can pullover and kick the family out if they start pummeling me.
I am curious as to the manpower in airlines today vs. pre-plandemic. Seems to me they still filled all their flights but reduced the number of flights, so they likely laid off a lot.
Which should mean that there are experienced flight crews on the sidelines who could be working.
Just adopt the model to hire unqualified women and minorities. What could possibly go wrong. And what role might vaccines play in this, we will never know.
American Airlines (Formally known as America West/US Air) is now staffed like a Regional Carrier and they’re trying to operated like one as well! Understaffed (now overworked) Ground Personnel, lack of proper flight crew scheduling, followed by an incompetent management team who can’t manage or listen to those who have 30+ years experience…The employees are at a breaking point….A friend says they miss-connect in DFW 4K bags daily on a Good Day!
