California High School Has Classrooms Taken Over By Rats

Teachers Say Some Classrooms ‘Completely Taken Over’ By Rats Is Delaying Start Of In-Person Learning At A Montebello High School.

MONTEBELLO (CBSLA) — Teachers at a high school in Montebello say rodents in the classroom have delayed their chance to get ready for the first day of in-person learning.

One teacher at Schurr High School said faculty tried to clean, but the issue had already gotten out of hand.

“It’s not safe, it is absolutely a health issue,” said social studies teacher Al Cuevas. “Some of the rooms were completely taken over by rats.”

In-person instruction remained closed on Monday when students were scheduled to return after more than one year of remote learning.

Parents expressed disappointment in what the teachers say is happening on campus.

“They totally could’ve been more prepared to start,” said parent Nadine Garcia.

Garcia and other parents and teachers say they blame the school’s administration and Montebello Unified for the problems. They say the district knew about the rats well before sending out a notice of delay Friday afternoon. more here

  1. 2 unassailable facts;

    Teachers do not want to show up for work, they would rather stay home and get paid so more covid fear must be generated.

    The rats would score better than the students on the year end proficient tests.

  2. Around long beach harbor where the homeless are camping, they had a problem a year or so ago with plague. Yeah the actual plague, because of rats.

    A shitty council member refused to go to work because she already got sick from some other kind of virus that comes from rats, as they were found all through her office.

    In this day and age. *shakes head*

  3. I don’t know about rats, but mice can be eliminated with a little antifreeze.
    Had a neighbor who raise birds. He would dump the spent seed and poop in his yard. I built little boxes and put them outside along the foundation with a dish of antifreeze in each one. No more mice.

  4. @MJA, the rats(furry ones)were very bold. I saw them all the time working graveyard shift and they had very little fear. If they could talk, they would have said, “how ya doin'” in passing. Ugh.
