Weekend in Chicago: Over 40 People Shot

Breitbart: Over 40 people were shot, seven of them fatally, Friday into Saturday night in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported at least 41 people had been shot by 11:57 p.m. on Saturday, with seven of those individuals succumbing to their wounds.

ABC 7 / Sun-Times noted that the early weekend violence included three people shot, one fatally, at a gas station “in the 5100-block of West Madison Street.”

About 20 people were standing outside the gas station just before 3 a.m. on Saturday when someone in a black Dodge vehicle opened fire. A 52-year-old man and two women, aged 64 and 24, were shot. The elder woman died from her wounds; the man is in critical condition, as is the 24-year-old woman.

Breitbart News explained that 12 people were shot in Lightfoot’s Chicago on Thursday and 16 on Wednesday. Six people were shot and killed on Monday alone, and those six included a 70-year-old grandmother and a 26-year-old mother of two.

Over 50 people were shot in Chicago last weekend, 45 of them on Friday, August 13, 2021, into the morning of Sunday, August 15, 2021, alone.

  1. Nobody stands around the gas stations in my city in AZ. People don’t go for walks late at night in my city. Groups of people don’t sit on the patios or porches late at night in my city. I can only guess that people who live in my city would stay indoors if there were crazed gunmen roaming about.
So, why do the people of Chicago risk so much every weekend>

  2. If citizens were allowed to carry, there would be fewer shootings… perhaps not initially as good people started fighting back but bad guys would get the message. Bangers will still shoot each other tho.

  3. @AnonTrooper — Indeed.

One of the things I look for opportunities to point out is that it is wrong to think all “gun violence”¹ is bad. When the intended victim of a potentially deadly assault shoots (and preferably kills) the bad guy, that outcome is GOOD. I’d like more of that, as it seems you do, too.

    1. Decrying the use of the term “gun violence” when we don’t talk about “car violence” or “baseball bat violence” is another one, but for a different time.

No protest, no riots and no looting because no one was shot by a cop.
It seems what they’re saying is black lives don’t matter.
Has anybody else noticed that the world has gone off the rails?
