CTH: Perhaps it’s because we have been discussing this moment for over a decade; or perhaps it’s because we’ve already chosen our tribe amid this league of crazy; or perhaps it’s just because we don’t like ‘them’ in the first place; but whatever it is, this announcement today by the White House to cleave society into vaxxed -vs- non-vaxxed status is actually a little funny. Good luck with it.

This ain’t new. Or as we say amid my social circle: “We done knew.”
The White House claims that 80 million Americans are unvaccinated, and we are now the enemy of the state. OK, whatever. When you get all done with the teeth gnashing part, I’m still unvaxxed. And if I’m no longer permitted to engage in a social construct that I have been studiously avoiding for the past few decades, well, meh…. a’right then, punish me by barring me from living life amid the Federal Moonbats. The federal compliance and enforcement part of the mandated worker vaccination will be fun to watch.
I have serious doubts that only 80 million Americans are unvaccinated, but fair enough; if that’s your number, okay then. However, consider this…. Assuming we are the minority group, the non-vaxxed crew breaks down into two broad segments: (1) The extremely well-educated who carry commonsense and are in a social strata where they remain quiet about it; and (2) The skeptical productive class of similarly disposed commonsense blue-collar workers who are the backbone of American productivity.
The comfortable existence for the rest of “polite society” is dependent on the scruffneck working class, the dirty fingernail folk who know what Lava soap feels like, and the industrious service sector workforce who fulfill the needs of those who hold out their pinky fingers when they drink from a glass.
If this non-vaccinated ‘minority group’ stops fulfilling the needs of the vaccinated ‘betters’, guess what happens? more
Sounds great, and then I look at Australia. Is is really just the missing guns which allowined the instant tyranny? Is it their lack of a Bill of Rights? We’ve certainly watched ours go into the chipper. And this romantic notion of the unjabbed bringing the elites to their knees is nice, but is it any more realistic than the megalomania of the elites?
Life is going to get hard for those who resist, and snark and flippancy are no substitute for preparation for the siege. We will be tested as never before. Will we be ready, or will we rationalize our way into subjugation?
If this ain’t the mark, then it’s the loudest warning you’ll get. History doesn’t repeat. it rhymes.

I disagree with the premise this a blue collar/ minority resistance. I own a small engineering consulting firm. One of our clients has a faculty in Wuhan. Our 24 employees did COVID before COVID was cool. Probably goodie was early for our two larger employees who were stricken pretty hard with a non-flu-flu-like illness that they didn’t do hospital admittance for the virus before it was classified as the plague. Since March of 2020 we have not had a single employee or member of their immediate family test positive and as a whole we’ve had to submit to hundreds of tests to stay working. But I would argue all the un-vaxed I know are intelligent, logical minded professionals and entrepreneurs. We never masked in meetings, continued to have gatherings and won’t be getting the jab anytime soon. We of course have clients who admit they’re being forced by public opinion and politicians to require vaccinations as they once did masks but they have given most contractors a don’t ask don’t tell us -just have a “policy” in place approach, like the government required drug and alcohol policies, etc. The numbers from the data trackers and the vaccine don’t look good. I think if we can weather the storm a little longer this all falls apart. This is the hail Mary pass for the administration, and I doubt, like everything else this year that it works out the way they hope.

No shots I! I never considered myself “extremely well educated” just becuse I have grad degrees! I actually think most PHD can not pile anhything high! I pride myself with “common sense”; but liberals say I have none! My lib kin professors think I am “a kook”!
When I countered my American hating teachers 65 years ago; my teenage friends thought I was kooky. But I had no comb. Just hrs in detention. Common sense, or foolhardy?
BTW. most of the folk around here are shot free! But Ronny got 80% in ’84! We are all kooky! Or blessed with COMMON SENSE. Also well educated extremists, as Tricky Dick said Barry was 59 years ago!

More than 1/2 of those 80 million are probably children under age 12 who are not suppose to get vaccinated. Biden is a dumb ass !
Really the only power they (so far), have is OSHA.
For businesses it’s a matter of complying or dying. But then losing 10 or 20% of their key people will crush them as well, maybe that’s the plan. At the company I work at we have way more work than we have people to do it. The materials is a question mark too. They had the foresight to buy a lot of materials and put them in our warehouse which normally holds our tools and trucks. Not sure where this is going, but I will not comply. I a

Agree with you, except I believe Drug/alcohol testing are an insurers mandte, not necessarily .govs.
Fun article but not realistic. The squeeze will get most everyone in the end or there will be massive disruptions in society at large which will be quelled by force of course. The totalitarian inside every leftist is just about to break clear through. We’ll learn what an actual ‘kinder, gentler machine gun hand’ looks like in the end.
