Why people are turning their backs on Hollywood

American Thinker:

By Rajan Laad

Consider the following scenario:

A shop had been launched in your vicinity.  The proprietor urges the community to support his new business.  You gladly comply and ensure that you make most of your purchases from the establishment.

The business prospers such that in a few years, the owners open several new shops and soon become a well-regarded retail chain.  You are proud to have contributed to their remarkable success in your own way.

Months later, you run into the proprietor.  You greet him warmly and congratulate him on his stupendous success.  To your surprise, the man bears a smug countenance and is indifferent toward your utterances.

He stops you mid-sentence and reprimands you for not wearing your mask properly.  He remarks that your vehicle causes pollution that harms the environment.

He launches into a spiel on societal prejudice.  He provides you with a litany of his life struggles, including the hate he gets on social media, implying that the hateful perpetrators are supporters of the politician you voted for.

All you expected was a pleasant conversation and perhaps some gratitude.  Instead, a tedious lecture and accusations were inflicted upon you.  You give him the benefit of doubt; perhaps he was in a foul mood that day. more

  1. “You give him the benefit of doubt”, why would you do that?

He clearly revealed his true colors, despises you as a person, and will go out of his way to either silence or marginalize you. He is now the enemy, treat him as such.

People change, right George? right Mitt? right Paul? right Dan?

Perhaps he’s just a commie liberal that no longer needs those that propelled him to success.

It just substantiates why I hate liberals.

  3. My sister, friends and I have noticed that most actors/actresses only have a 10 year career. A good example is Jennifer Lawrence who starred in “Winter’s Bone” at the age of 16, did the Hunger Games Trilogy, Silver Linings Playbook and Joy. She is now in her late 20’s, can anyone tell me what she has done lately.
Sometimes (especially the men) have a longer career span – say 20 years. Or if they are smart, they start a production company and find younger actors/actresses with whom to work (like Brad Pitt). Or they become character actors/actresses like the Brits do (I am looking at you Maggie Smith!)

I think the guy is always in a perpetual bad mood. I don’t believe I ever met a liberal who was happy, they were always angry over air pollution, noise pollution, pollution, pollution pollution. The only thing liberals are known best for is polluting minds. Never make an excuse for a liberal being a liberal, I don’t like them, their ideas, looks, or their I’m better than you, only for me but not for thee attitude.

  5. The last movie that I ever payed to see because I actually wanted to see it was “The Big Lebowski”. I think it came out in 1998. It was a hoot. Too bad that Jeff Bridges turned out to be such a douchebag in real life. Literally have not watched anything out of Hollywood since then & I’m probably a better man because of it.

  6. “But there seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously — after all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important … so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he proves himself to be both ignorant and subliterate every time he opens his mouth.”- Robert A. Heinlein
