NTD: Police officials said at least eight people were killed and many others injured in a crush when fans surged toward the stage at the Astroworld music festival in Houston on Nov. 5 while rapper Travis Scott was performing.
“This is a tragic night,” Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña told a news conference outside NRG Park, the event venue.
“Eight confirmed fatalities, and we had scores of individuals that were injured,” he added, describing what occurred as a “mass casualty incident.”
Around 50,000 fans were in attendance at the festival, Peña said, when at around 9 p.m. “the crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, and that caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries.” more here
A rapper was performing?
Hmmm. I’m not going to say it.
At least at the Who concert in Cincinnati, the crowd was forced to wait outside a long time in sub-freezing temperatures.
Crap rap trap dirt nap.
Seriously, this is very tragic.
Astroworld? More like Afroworld.
If it entailed Rap it was not a music festival!
Evidentally itz Asshole World!
A similar situation occurred back in the 70’s and the concert businesses declared they would not allow open seating anymore to avoid the massive rush when the gates open. I guess history repeats itself.
Anyone ask The Who to comment?
Wow, 50,000 rap fans acting like animals? Who could have predicted THAT?!
We’re back in the 70’s in so many ways.
Mash pit
I was in Houston last weekend. My Russian wife wanted to go to the Russian General Store and stock up on all of her favorite Ruskie food items. Afterwards, she wanted to eat at Kazt’s Deli so we made our way over there. I chose to turn off Loop 610 onto Kirby which runs north along the west side of NRG Stadium. Bad decision! Apparently, there was a Mexican car show going on and every Mexican within a thousand miles was there to see the hundreds and hundreds of low-riders cars. They had every intersection around NRG Stadium choked up with people trying to get into the event. It was a third world cluster-f**k. I’m grateful I don’t have to deal with that kind of traffic on a daily basis.
By the way, there wasn’t a single Houston cop anywhere to be seen directing traffic at the event. It was a pretty ugly situation and I’m glad I got through it before things boiled over.
Meh.
…and some tranny just said Rock was “problematic”
I am puzzled–in my mind the attendees would mainly be young people. Did they have to show proof of vaccines? How do you account for THAT many cardiac arrests?? There have been several reports this last week of athletes having cardiac events…
Bingo Corky. Buckle up peeps, the ADE and cardiac deaths are starting.
Well, in 1974ish I attended a Who concert in Rome (Italy). The crowd crush that ensued once the gates were opened was (literally) breathtaking. I did not die though.
OK.
A rap “concert” and some people died and some more were injured.
Where’s the “tragic” part?
izlamo delenda est …
satanic rituals complete with human sacrifice, now. The moose-limbs are going to file a lawsuit for cultural appropriation, next.
