  1. Personal
66 years ago I lived in noCal. My Dad’s folks lived in
SoCal. I would herd my younger sibs on bus to
SoCal. On trip back Nana would make great peanut butter cookies for us. On the “milk run”(1) when we got to Buelton I’d take the “kids” (I was the Big Brother” only 12 but NO KID!) in to Pea Soup Andy’s for a $0.25 bowl of split pea soup. When we got back on the bus we’d eat the cookies.

(!) for those < 60 a milk run is a bus route that stops at every city of size along the way. I think ours had 9 or 10 stops!

I wish I had some of those cookies. Boy Howdy do I!

  2. It’s against website company policy to post pictures of actual cookies at this time of year! C’mon, man! I just got done finishing off the pre-Christmas, Thanksgiving rum cake I made. Okay, over a week ago. Okay, several days after Thanksgiving. (There was a little bit left after people took home big chunks. Actually.)

All I can think about now is making Christmas cookies! But it’s too soon and I’ll just eat ’em all gone. Dammit.

  3. Last Saturday we took in $1,980.00 on Christmas cookies at my church bake sale. The peanut butter scenes were great! I’m sure the dog cookies, made by and for dogs, would have put us over two grand.

    OT TMI
The total take on the bake sale was over $11,000.00. Honest. We sell ethnic food and baked goods. Everything is made from scratch. We make things grandma used to make, and people one or two generations from the Old Country remember Grandma’s cooking and love it.
