Consumer Inflation Reaches 7 Percent in December, Highest Rate in Forty Years and Still Climbing

CTH: The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the December inflation data today [DATA HERE] for December.  Readers on these pages are not surprised to discover that inflation in the U.S. economy has now reached a forty year high at 7 percent.

Unfortunately, the 7% in June of 1982 was when inflation was on the way down from Jimmy Carter’s failed economic policy.  This time our 7% milestone has been achieved while inflation is on the climb thanks to Joe Biden’s failed economic policies.

Carter’s mess was created by regulation, policies and oil prices.  Biden’s mess is created by the same and much more.

Yes, it will be getting worse.

  1. By my calculations it is closer to 21%. I am going off the breakdown of my living expenses. The cost of food, clothes, electricity, water, gas, tires, fuel, and auto parts are all in my calculations. My Home taxes went from $3130 to $4080 this past year and it is an outlier and not part of the calculation. I know my savings grew 25% less this past year compared to years before.

  2. CPI gave military and SSI pensioners 5.9% COLA. So you just lost value in 2022, will be worse in 2023. Much worse. They are intentionally destroying the years of your hard work and responsibly built equity.

And they’re giving it away to illegals.

    Fuck these evil bastards.

No. They’ve already given it to billionaires. Who need no country. That’s why prices are inflating, now.

    I suppose that’s a plan. Not a good plan. But a plan.

  4. Dry gulched, that may come to pass. The weenies are clamoring for the clot-shot — liberals, and republican liberals (I know, don’t shout at me), what we used to call retards.

  5. A conservative “D” said that a tiered tax system encourages the govt to make inflation. Because if wages approximate inflation workers pay more in taxes to the benefit of the rich and those on welfare. He pushed for a 20% flat tax to eliminate the ability of the rich to effectively steal from “THE CHUMPS” by lowering the value of the $ (what inflation does). I voted for this conservative when he changed parties 9 TIMES.

One of the features of his tax reform was to adjust the tiers by the CPI. One of many reasons I did not vote for the liberal Dole is he pushed “Chain weighted CPI” to – as he honestly said – undo what Ronny had done. Chain weighting allows the BLS to intentionally understate inflation each month; thereby allowing the plutocrats to legally steal from workers! when I used to work the first 2 letters after my name did not mean I was a “Bad ASS” it was my econ degree.
