GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (Lifesitenews) — An alternative to high-priced health care plans on the Obamacare exchanges could soon be history if Democrats in Congress and the Biden administration get their way.

The Biden administration wants to crack down on Short Term Limited Duration Insurance (STLDI) and Democrat senators are urging the Department of Health and Human Services to move more quickly.

STLDI plans “sow confusion and cause harm to patients,” wrote Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-WS), Michael Murphy (D-CT), and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) in a letter to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra on February 14. The letter was signed by 37 of their Democrat colleagues and independent Sens. Angus King (ME) and Bernie Sanders (VT).

Why the attack?

In their letter, the Senators point out that a record 14.5 million Americans signed up for Obamacare plans during the most recent Open Enrollment period and STLDI could derail that momentum. more

  1. Amazing how a program promoted as a wonderful supplement to Obamacare suddenly becomes a harmful, predatory menace when politicians need to find a problem to solve with new taxes.

  2. Speaking from experience, anyone who has ever been forced to buy an Obamacare policy knows full well how absolutely worthless it is. Few doctors accept them, and the deductables are so high that, barring major surgery, the policy will not pay a dime.

  3. Why the hell didn’t the GOP get rid of 0bamacare when it had the chance? There should be commercials “15 min can save you 15% on your group medical insurance…”

  4. I’m starting to notice something creeping in from left field that has the potential of really have an impact on state mandated health care. On Line Medical Service. I byproduct of the RONA I think. There’s a couple online “Doctors” that will diagnose and prescribe meds for all kinds of ailments and that list expands weekly. There was a commercial on today for an online service that will send you tests for a variety of ailments. All of these services are considerably cheaper than you normal Doc visit. Interesting stuff.

  5. “Yep, you can get a Roboburger and medical advice at the same kiosk….interesting stuff my ass…”

If this new E service continues it’s current trend, which it certainly looks like it will, whether you chose to participate or not, it will still have a huge impact on that industry.

  6. DANCO – spot on advice in that .jpg. I would add: start gardening. Add lawn care, landscaping, tree cutting, shed-, chicken coup- and/or deck-building and any other outside activities you can. And don’t stop. Get some much-needed Vitimin-D and exercise…OUTSIDE.

  8. Either side has absolutely no idea how the average American actually lives, and neither do they care in their greed-encapsulated little worlds. Thus croaks those who have cadillac insurance and an immediate-response physician for whatever ails them, even in the dead of night. Enter the donkey-mouthed AOC’s (et al) communistic agenda which will further enslave us all and under the pretense of “fair” and “humanitarian”. Their greed knows no bounds especially since the matter of healthcare and insurance is premium top-shelf fodder for these govt scammers.
