5. It was just after 18:00 on a rainy April evening in 1975. All of us B shift students at Keesler AFB were forming up into our Squadrons getting ready to march back to the student triangle. As I was walking to my Squadron’s meet point, I passed the Guide-on Bearer of another squadron, a short black Airman, he was waiting like everyone else. I noticed he was singing softly to himself Sweet Home Alabama. I knew then that song was going to be big.

   As for me, I never liked it or anything by LS. It comes on the radio and I change the station.

   But if it pisses off the left, I’m all for it. Fuck them!

9. I sure hope they don’t run with this tripe. It perpetuates the stereotypical hick perception as other Americans view from that region. DeSantis may run for president and he needs to get a good message across instead of “we don’t like what’s going on-we’re red white and blue- mind your own business and don’t come around here” platitudes.
   He needs a more spirited, uplifting, “Let’s all look to a brighter future together” message that would resonate with people across this country.
