Portland Police union head rejects Oregon Dem governor candidate’s claim to support police

Portland Police Association President Sgt. Aaron Schmautz on Thursday disputed claims Oregon Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek made in the Wednesday night debate about her support for law enforcement.

Kotek appeared in a three-way debate alongside Republican rival Christine Drazan and independent candidate Betsy Johnson. During an exchange on policing, Kotek drew flak from Johnson and Drazan about her “Defund the Police” positions and support for rioters during the 2020 riots in the state.

The Democrat rejected those assertions, saying “I’ve always supported our state police,” which Schmautz told Fox News is “simply not true.” more

  1. She didn’t mean “state police,” she meant “State Police,” the organization that provides her security. That is what the Oregon state law enforcement agency is called.

  2. If they had any self awareness whatsoever the bastards would have some shame pulling this shit. The very notion that any Democrat or anyone who aligns with the Democrat Party has the least bit of consideration for legitimate law enforcement personnel (and I don’t include a single one of them who has been following immoral or unlawful orders as legitimate) is absolutely ludicrous.

  3. Blown away every time I see Police unions supporting the commies who want to kill them. By the way, it’s almost always elected police union officials, not the rank and file.
