Police in Arkansas accidentally set a suspect on fire after a prolonged police chase.
Arkansas State Police (ASP) were in pursuit of a suspect on a motorcycle in Little Rock last week, dashcam video showed. Police finally caught up with the suspect after a prolonged chase, and when one of the officers attempted to taser him, the suspect erupted into a fireball, before police extinguished the fire and arrested the suspect.
No news reports of the incident have been published, but a full-length video of the chase from the YouTube channel Police Pursuits provided the full context. The pursuit began at around 1:11 in the morning local time. ASP trooper Joseph Killian was in hot pursuit of a suspect speeding down the street on a motorcycle. Police chased the suspect while radioing for backup. Trooper Austin Duncan-Flemister caught up and gave chase, as the suspect continued onto the highway at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. At around the 8:40 mark of the video, the suspect cuts through a shopping center parking lot and into a residential area, where police finally catch up to him.
As the suspect attempts to escape on foot, an officer tracks him down and deploys a taser. At that point, something in the suspect’s backpack catches fire and immediately explodes into a massive fireball. “He’s on fire!” Duncan-Flemister shouts, as other officers back away. The suspect gets up, still on fire himself, and stumbles away from the larger fire, then attempts to stop, drop, and roll. “Help me! Help me!” he can be heard shouting, before police return with fire extinguishers and put the fire out.
Officers then take the suspect into custody. “I can’t breathe,” the suspect can be heard saying through Duncan-Flemister’s radio.
“None of us can,” an officer retorts, before ordering the suspect to put his hands behind his back.
Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly afterward and transported the suspect away from the scene.
“Unbeknownst to the Troopers, the suspect had a canister of gas in his backpack,” Police Pursuits wrote in the video description. more
Ah, a feel-good story. Finally.
“I can’t breathe.” Where have I heard that before?
Happy Diwali everyone!

The fireworks are great but the food tastes like shit.
Now THAT was really hot pursuit of a suspect! That is literally returning fire on a suspect.
This video reminds me that I sure do miss Richard Pryor’s comedy….
“Oh, but the fire went wild
I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire”

Why slam Indian food? It has nothing to do with the story.
And yet some hungry lawyer is going to be able to shake the city down for a astonishingly high dollar amount because the police didn’t predict the perp’s level of stupidity.
He might not have been black when he got tasered, but he is now..
Anonymous,
Great people. friendly, industrious, and hard working people.
However, The food completely kills me. It is the only type i HAVE to avoid and I’ll eat Snails with Black bean sauce, Tripe, & Sheep’s head baked in the oven with Hot Spices.
…if it was a White guy, they could have just stomped the fire out.
good thing for the cop that was there, tho.
Tasing the guy in the backpack would not have been very effective otherwise.
You watch enough police pursuit videos, and you’ll hear “I can’t breathe” and “I dint do nuffin”, over and over. It’s like the George Floyd video was a training film.
A definite case of police brutality. He’ll have to sue them big time.
A shame mr flameball wasn’t stuck in a lithium battery car…
Typical lib – keep the police away from me!!! Until – Help me!! Help me!!
Goodness gracious
JDHasty, your subtlety acknowledged. 😉
There is a video where a guy of I don’t recall what race got pulled over by the New Mexico State Police. As they are talking to the guy, he tries to take the sargeant’s gun. The other officer shoots the guy. As the guy, who later died, is laying on the ground the officer asked him “What did you do that for?”
He is answer?
“I thought I was supposed to.”
