Brittney Griner moved to a penal colony in Russia

AZCentral: MOSCOW — Jailed Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner has been moved to a penal colony in Russia, her legal team said Wednesday.

A Russian court rejected her appeal of her nine-year sentence for drug possession last month.

“Brittney was transferred from the detention center in Iksha on the 4th November. She is now on her way to a penal colony. We do not have any information on her exact current location or her final destination,” the statement from her legal team said.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement, “Every minute that Brittney Griner must endure wrongful detention in Russia is a minute too long. As the Administration continues to work tirelessly to secure her release, the President has directed the Administration to prevail on her Russian captors to improve her treatment and the conditions she may be forced to endure in a penal colony. As we have said before, the U.S. Government made a significant offer to the Russians to resolve the current unacceptable and wrongful detentions of American citizens. ” more here

  1. “… release, the President has directed the Administration…”

In the old days, the President WAS the Administration.

Of course, Joe Xiden *isn’t* the President…

  3. Well, had the individual simply refrained from making vile racist anti American statements using her rather dubious platform as a WNBA ‘star’ I might think, hey, mercy, the individual made a mistake.

Under the actual circumstances I hope the individual both survives and learns from the lengthy stay in the labor camp.

Don’t take your rocks away from me
Don’t you leave my heart in misery
Cause if you go then I’ll be blue
Breaking rocks is hard to do

They say that breaking rocks is hard to do
Now I know, I know that it’s true
Don’t say that this is the end
Instead of breaking rocks, I wish that we were making rocks again

I beg of you, don’t say goodbye
Can’t we give our rocks just one more try
Come on baby, let’s start anew
Breaking rocks is hard to do
Breaking rocks is oh so hard to do

  5. “Wrongful detention”. I didn’t know that the drugs were planted on her. I thought she confessed to breaking Russian drug laws and was convicted in accordance with their justice system. If Biden is going to bat for her, it’s probably not wise to keep sticking his finger in their collective eyes.

  6. Please get back to me when this hateful racist gets released and praises this Country. If this miserable dirtbag doesn’t appreciate the differences between America and Russia after her education in Putin’s Gulag, then I don’t want to hear about her return to a place she doesn’t belong.

Russia has laws just like the US does. They choose too enforce them. It isn’t wrongful detention, she is paying the price for breaking a law.

It’s too bad that it doesn’t happen in the US more often.

    Decisions, decisions.
