Disney’s Iger May Have To Cut Costs As Streaming Loses Money

(Reuters) – Saving Walt Disney Co this time will require Bob Iger to show off a different side to his character.

The legendary chief executive who transformed Disney into the most powerful entertainment company on the planet will need to show how quickly he can cut costs and restore profitability, analysts say.

Disney shocked investors late on Sunday evening by announcing the ouster of CEO Bob Chapek and appointing Iger, 71, to a two-year contract to return the company to growth.

The move evoked other return engagements such as Steve Jobs’ return to Apple and Howard Schultz’s return to Starbucks in times of crisis.

“The bold move (Iger’s return) might feel like the right one. However, the business is at a different phase of growth,” PP Foresight analyst Paolo Pescatore said, adding that short-term measures might include restriction of some operations.

The most immediate target of that could be Disney+, the streaming service that Iger helped launch in 2019. Losses at the unit more than doubled in the last reported quarter to $1.5 billion.

The business has become a drag on earnings as Disney spends heavily on content to attract subscribers, testing investor patience and contributing to a 40% slide in its shares so far this year. more

So, does this mean that Iger is going to drop dead just like Steve Jobs when he came back to Apple? Iger will be worse than Elon when it comes tro layoffs. Of course it’s necessary for the success of the company. Very difficult to put the cat back into the bag. Dizzy faggotry has bit them on the butt. This is delicious to watch. Ironic that the youngsters are beginning to learn the real cost to survive. I recall vividly the bad times we went through during Carter. This time around it’s far worse – and getting worse. Do I care? Not really.

  3. One more thing. Why should any of us professed Christians give any kind of homage to Disney. There’s threads of Satan weaved throughout Disney Magic Kingdom. If any of you can remember back around the 70’s, when posters came out of the Magic famous castle. The pillars (if you looked closely) were penises. My niece was a Disney fanatic and had 3 copies of that poster. It was quickly taken off the market, it was done for a reason. Geared up for their pedo shaping of children. So, not only threads of Satan, but threads of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is just one example of many:

  4. Isn’t Iger the one who ushered in gay day and the policy of hiring groomers?
The people in the dept that makes the movies and shows admit openly that they put the homosexual and trans agenda in as much as they can.
That’s really what has driven families away.
The price of the parks is secondary.

  5. beachmom – It’s not just one man. Disney has mutated into a sick, twisted collection of perverts that have no business being in business! Replacing one man isn’t going to cut it! The entire organization needs to be flushed and relegated to history!

  6. BeachMom,
I don’t know about Igor’s other doings with The House of Mouse, but I do remember that he instituted the policy and practice of bringing in and hiring foreigners to work in the Magic Kingdom, replacing the up-to-then usual practice of hiring locals & teens/HS students.

  7. Even my 10 year old gets it. He’s tired of being preached to by the shows and / or being told he can’t watch the new stuff bc of the sexual undertones. My 12 yr old was watching a commercial recently and said, “wow, that is total propaganda.” It’s so obvious to my kids. If only the C level got it.
