Donald Trump is currently facing a civil lawsuit brought by a woman named E. Jean Carroll. That’s a name RedState’s readers might remember if they aren’t new to politics. The former president has been accused for years by Jean Carroll of sexual assault, with the claims first surfacing back in 2019.
At the time, I penned a piece laying out her comments, many of which were frankly very weird. Now, Trump has been deposed in the case, and the results are absolutely hilarious.
There’s long been a concern among Trump’s lawyers that putting him in a deposition is a bit like putting a rabid raccoon in a crib with a baby. Doing that just isn’t going to end well, but in this case, the former president was left with no choice, having been ordered by the judge to appear. Sure enough, it was vintage Trump, and that shot at Biden in which he’s bragging about having written a statement himself is an instant classic. MORE

Both RedState and PJ Media stories about this do a lot of sideswiping of Trump. I laughingly question how the writer at RedState knows (apparently for a fact) that Trump’s lawyers have long considered him that most dreaded of all things (apparently, also), a loose cannon. Here, they’ve elevated him to a “rabid raccoon”; something I doubt his lawyers think. PJ’s writer whined that Trump had turned into a “grumpy elder statesman” who just wasn’t as much fun anymore — until this deposition. Kinda makes one wonder what she is seeking in the sphere of politics; entertaining politicians?
At the risk of sounding grumpy myself, I simply observe that one need no crystal ball to tell where these folks will be standing in ’24. They’ll be foursquare stalwarts of electing a “real” politician who has all the same baggage we know so well.

I’ve had the privilege a few times. The first time taught me something. I thought I could handle myself in any verbal altercation. Was proven WRONG. Went into it (first one) somewhat smug and confident and came out the other side realizing they never even even let me get my shorts down and didn’t use any lubricant. Much better at it after be humbled in the first go round. Much depends on how good the

First one was over a divorce. The husband had more money than god and subpoenaed/deposed have the males in northern IL. Figured I was safe as I never touched the lady, but they still found ways to twist shit up. The lady in question basically came away with nothing when his previous wife had gotten a ten million settlement that he bragged was her getting nothing.
She wasn’t being “emotionally fulfilled” and found someone to do the filling which cost her big time. More than a few decades ago, but must stop here or I’ll be getting another subpoena.
Was quite the learning experience for a little hick like me.
