Pharmacies in popular Mexico tourist destinations frequented by Americans are selling fentanyl-laced pills: Report

BPR: The pharmacies often attracting American tourists in Mexico are selling pills advertised as popular pharmaceuticals that actually contain deadly drugs like fentanyl, according to a Los Angeles Times investigation.

Pharmacies in northwest Mexico, like Cabo San Lucas and Tijuana, are selling pills that are advertised as Adderall, Xanax, Oxycodone, but are actually laced with fentanyl, according to the LA Times. In conducting its investigation, the LA Times found that 71% of the 17 pills they tested contained more lethal drugs than what the aforementioned medications were advertised as.

“Whenever you have counterfeit products that contain fentanyl, you are going to have people use them and die,” UCLA researcher and the senior author of a similar study, Chelsea Shover, said, according to the LA Times.

Fentanyl is largely responsible for the more than 100,000 overdose deaths that occurred in the U.S. in 2021. The illicit form of fentanyl is predominately made by cartels in Mexico that use precursor chemicals from China, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). MORE

  1. …just keep this kind of thing in mind, everyone that says we should just let anyone sickened by Fentanyl die…well, this, and the fact that children get accidentally poisoned, seniors get accidentally poisoned, teenagers who want to fit in may make a huge mistake, and that even adults that knowingly take such things to get high are someone’s child, parent, sibling, and/or mate, and that the same God that gave YOU a second chance has WRITTEN that He thinks you should give OTHERS one, too…

…this is only going to get worse. Learn CPR and carry Narcan, the day may not be far off that someone you know, maybe even someone you love, will need both…

“Why would anyone in their right mind trust any drug bought at a Mexican pharmacy?”

…after all the Coof vaxx shenanigans, I’m not sure we can trust ANY drug from ANY pharmacy.

…just remember that the same FDA that approved the vaxxx for non-risk children, approved everything ELSE in the American ones…

  3. I just watched a documentary on the Tylenol murders in Chicago in the 80’s the other day. They still never have found the real murderer to this day although they had plenty of suspects including possibly Ted Kaczinski, the Unabomber. It was a fascinating documentary about how our drugs were easy to tamper with at the time because of lack of pilfer proof safety caps on the Tylenol bottles. Because of those unsolved murders the law was changed to create pilfer proof drug bottles by the FDA.

  4. The Covid scam pretty much destroyed ANY trust I had in pharmaceutical companies, the FDA (which I had little trust in to begin with), my own GP and Multi Care. The antics of the RCMP pretty much took any benefit of the doubt I afforded LEO and threw that away.

I am not so sure that Mexican pharmaceuticals are any worse than what you are getting from the local Walgreens. At least I don’t have to be concerned about them trying to push a flue shot that is salted with MRNA on me, unlike my GP, Walgreens or Multi Care.

  5. I really don’t think the second part of this is a good idea but I wonder what would happen if we abandoned the War on Drugs and just fought another war with Mexico. We could wipe out the Mexican kleptocracy, the cartels and MS-13 and inflict a less criminal regime.

” … and inflict a less criminal regime.”

…not that I disagree with you, but I don’t think we can make that happen until we deal with our OWN criminal regime…

  7. Back in the early 80’s the discontinued making the steroid Dianabol. (I believe it is now being produced again for burn victims). Dianabol was the steroid of choice for guys that wanted to get massive back then. Well every one that wanted it went to Mexico for it. I personally knew several that died from it and a bunch that were hospitalized. I see nothings changed

  8. Can’t trust: the government including politicians, judges, DA’s,
    and bureaucrats
    the Chinese
    pharmaceutical companies
    drug cartels
    social media
    lawyers
    doctors
    priests
    large corporations
    Wall Street
    elections

Why would anyone expect Mexican pharmacies to be any different?

  9. Looking at the comments thus far I don’t see anything about how it sometimes gets difficult for those with chronic pain to get the help/relief they need from a legitimate source. You know like the Halfrican said, “Just take a pill for that.” And now the government won’t let them prescribe for you or let ypu take what has become necessary to get by with your worn out old body.

How much of what is happening to the overdoses or other because their doctors can’t or won’t prescribe what they need I’m not sure of. I do know that there’s any number of us out there that will get the refills even when we don’t need it to build up a reserve or “stache.”
