Canada: Thieves drive through mall in stolen car to rob electronics store

BPR: Brazen thieves committed what police called “an audacious crime” 25 miles northeast of Toronto, Canada last week, stealing a black Audi and then robbing an electronics store, unbelievably driving it through the Vaughan Mills mall in full view of security cameras when they were done.

York Regional Police Sgt. Clint Whitney said two thieves used the car to smash their way through a glass entrance at Vaughan Mills, near Highway 400 and Rutherford Road, at about 1:10 am. Police tweeted surveillance video of the robbers and it went viral.

“Fortunately, nobody was harmed in this incident. Nonetheless, it’s an audacious crime and remarkable,” Whitney stated Wednesday, according to New Market Today.

They drove the car to the electronics store after allegedly breaking through an entrance and “stole various devices before driving through the mall and smashing through another door to get out.” Damage to the mall and to the electronics store was reportedly “extensive.” MORE
