Rick Scott announces bill to ‘protect and preserve’ entitlements by yanking funds for 87k IRS agents

JUST THE NEWS: Florida Sen. Rick Scott this week announced a proposed bill that would protect federal old-age entitlements in part by rolling back funding for tens of thousands of new tax enforcement agents.

Scott on his Senate website said his proposed legislation would “safeguard the benefits” of Medicare and Social Security, funding for which he claimed President Joe Biden has a history of cutting.

The bill in part would “rescind funding for Joe Biden’s new 87,000 IRS agent army and redirect those funds to Medicare and Social Security to shore up these programs and address threats of insolvency,” Scott said.

Another provision in the law would mandate that “if any bill makes changes to Medicare that result in a ‘savings’ every dollar of those savings must remain in Medicare.”

Finally, the bill would stipulate that if “any legislation will cause a cut or reduction in Medicare or Social Security, this rule will force two thirds of Congress to vote to approve it, making it much more difficult for Congress to make cuts or reduce benefits.”

Scott’s office said the proposal would “protect seniors from Washington’s dysfunction and the pain caused by President Joe Biden’s raging inflation crisis.”

  1. Outside of printing more money, the govt can’t do much to fix Social Security. Seeing as how they broke it in the first place you can forget about that. Time to kick the can down the road.

  2. My dear assholes-SS and Medicare aren’t “Entitlements”; they’re services we were FORCED to pay into ALL our working lives, with no refund to our families if we kicked off before collecting.
Frankly, I’ve done infinitely much better in other investments than SS has done for me.
Entitlements are for border jumpers & other parasites that never invested a dime.

  3. St. Clair,
In 1937 the Supremes ruled that SS is a TAX. No one is “entitled” to ANY-FUKKIN-THING.
Not sure how Medicare works, but it’s probably a tax, too.

Our gov’t is disingenuous and our citizenry are morons.
Sell the same old bullshit for over 100 years and we still don’t catch on.
