Jordan presses IRS chief on allegations agent entered Ohioan’s home using fake name

JTN

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Friday wrote to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel asking that he account for a “bizarre” field visit in which an IRS agent alleged secured entry to an Ohio resident’s home using a fake name and under false pretenses.

“We have recently received allegations that an Internal Revenue Service agent provided a false name to an Ohio taxpayer as part of a deception to gain entry into the taxpayer’s home to confront her about delinquent tax filings,” Jordan wrote. “When the taxpayer rightfully objected to the agent’s tactics, the IRS agent insisted that he ‘can… go into anyone’s house at any time’ as an IRS agent. These allegations raise serious concerns about the IRS’s commitment to fundamental civil liberties.” more

  1. When will the GOP do something more effective than “press” a commisoner? This is just stupid theater, quit talking and do something already. That is what you were elected for, to make a difference until Trump can get back and actually drain the swamp. Help him out!

  3. Sounds like fraud. Don’t let anyone in without a warrant and photo copy their ID. Nothing is going to change until over site finds sharp teeth and uses them.

  4. If you enter a home under false pretenses, whether you carry a badge or not, using a false name, that’s breaking and entering. I shit you not. The homeowner should have shot this asshole. Right in the face.

  5. Our forefathers fought a war over this. The crown letting soldiers enter peoples homes on false pretenses. It wasn’t just the tea tax and why we have the 4th Amendment.

  6. There was a very similar story a couple weeks ago. Except it was the ATF trying to physically retrieve a trigger they don’t approve of. They were trying to retrieve it from a retired Seal and an active contractor. A Forced Reset Trigger. They scare the hell out of the Gov. The ATF showed up in full kit sporting plate carriers. In the plate carriers they all has stuffed 25 yard AR500 steel targets. Complete with mouse ears for hanging. Hilarious shit. Anyway the best line of the conversation was when the SEAL refused them entry and said, “Just because you carry a badge doesn’t mean you’re not breaking the law”.

  7. Overstating your authority is actually pretty common among wannabe cops, and some may genuinely be stupid enough to actually beleive it themselves.

My favorite was a mall security guard that was told by the cops to leave a critical incident area because he was in the way, and he refused. He loudly informed the cop while pointing at his SECURITY badge that “I AM A POLICE OFFICER AND THIS IS MY JURISDICTION!”.

After a somewhat livelier and more physical discussion, the police treated him to wearing REAL handcuffs and riding in a REAL police car to a REAL police station where it was presumably explained to him that he was not.

No shortage of people who will be quick to claim unwarranted authority over you.

    If you let them…

  8. As we’ve seen, the problem with the GOP is that they protect even the likes of the evil and vile Adam Schiff. It’s hopeless: don’t even dream of countin gon the GOP. It’s really time to form a third party.
