Biden administration considers $20,000 fine, prison for boaters who exceed 11.5 mph in Florida Gulf

JTN: President Joe Biden’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is moving a step closer to imposing a 10-knot speed limit for large boats in the Florida waters of the Gulf of Mexico, with violations potentially resulting in a felony charge punishable by a $20,000 fine and up to one year in prison.

The agency closed a public comment period Thursday on a petition seeking to impose the limit.

The petition argues the speed limit will protect the endangered Rice’s whale and was submitted by a coalition of six environmental groups to NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in 2021, invoking the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act. more

  1. Are the Coast Guard and DEA running out of Go-Fast Narco Boats to “Asset Forfeiture”? Then I guess it’s time to criminalize all of the other boaters. Whales, my ass.

  2. I’ll bet More eagles are killed by wind farms than whales killed by prop strikes in the Gulf. Dumb ass Environmentalists. the Government will probably put satellites up to act like speed cameras.

  3. They re never going to stop with the agenda to destroy America. Look at the vessel traffic on Marine Traffic dot com and this would be a major disruption of commercial traffic. More rules that are illegal. No wonder they want to arm the federal employee’s to the teeth.
Time to shut off the flow of energy/fuel to California, NYC and Washington D.C. so they can see first hand what their policies will do to Americans. When the people don’t have food and clean water they will do whatever is necessary to survive. And it won’t be pretty.

    Rice’s Whale…it’s what’s for dinner!

  5. Meanwhile on the northeast coast line, environmental efforts with wind farms are killing whales. The unfolding of Atlas Shrugged in real time is astounding… the cause of the deaths the “news” says it’s NOT from wind farms
