The “spineless Republican” is true in many cases, but is also is scripted into their part in the farce and put there to be exploited to explain away what is obvious. They are just as actively involved as are the Democrats.
The Republican establishment is as deeply invested in protecting the racket and has absolutely no interest in ending corruption than do the Democrats, in fact protecting the racket is one of the primary thing they are sincerely concerned about.
