WBIR: The Romieke family moved to Morristown from Germany after the German government fined them for homeschooling their children.
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. β For 15 years, the Romeike family has lived in Morristown. Uwe Romeike, the father of the seven Romeike children, works as a piano accompanist at Carson-Newman University. Now, they say, the U.S. government is trying to deport them.
The family moved to the U.S. from Germany in 2008. Their application for asylum said they were fined by the German government roughly $9,000 after homeschooling their children, court documents show.Β
An immigration judge initially granted the family’s application for asylum. The U.S. Department of Justice appealed the decision, and the U.S. Board of Immigration Appeals revoked the family’s asylum status, documents show.Β more here
One of their daughters married one of the Bates’ sons and they just had a baby. From what I’ve read they have tried to do everything right, the way the government has told them, they’ve went through all the steps to try and become citizens. I guess they should have just came across the border and then the government would leave them alone.

Unfortunately you have to deal with the cartels if you ‘sneak’ into the border. Very expensive and dangerous, but there’s a large enough flow and no tracking of people attempting the journey.
