NYP: PLUM GROVE, Texas — In the piney woods and wetlands 35 miles north of Houston, one of the biggest housing developments in the country has become one of the most controversial.
Colony Ridge, a sprawl of homes, trailers and even tents, is home to as many as 75,000 people in an area at least 50 percent bigger than Manhattan.
But next week, it will be the subject of a special session of the Texas legislature, ordered by Gov. Greg Abbott, because of claims it is a “no-go area,” a home to criminals and drug cartels, and a magnet for “illegal immigration.”
Texas’s 25 House Republicans, who’ve also called for an investigation, said it is “an optimal haven for illegal aliens amid a historic border crisis.”
The 40-square-mile development on unincorporated land in Liberty County was launched 15 years ago by billionaire developer brothers Trey and John Harris.

I believe this story was covered (twice) by IOTW a couple of weeks ago. No matter, it bears repeating. However, this is far from the only such development in the US. There are many of them in the US.
A small mitigation, if I may boast, is that I am in (the suburbs of) Houston. I am law abiding, tax paying, charitable, upstanding member of society. Who, after 17 months, countless dollars, extensive medical and background checks, plus in person interviews, am the proud recipient of a “Green Card”. It was delivered on Tuesday evening. Yay me!
Just democrat voters in training.

Congratulations on that green card. People wouldn’t believe what coming into the US legally involves and what people have to go through, but coming here illegally is sanctioned by the lawless Biden administration. It’s sickening. My wife is pretty angry about it.
On the plus side, something could sure be done about 75000 illegals all in one place…
