Knuckleheads talking or scrolling videos, checking their social media etc. on their cell phones and not watching or paying attention to their surroundings. I call my cell phone my umbilical cord, but I have a flip phone only because smart phones drive me ape shit.

People are becoming dumber. I can’t tell you how many lives I saved in DC when I screamed at pedestrians who were too busy with some digital device to pay attention.
It is YOUR job to not be run over, but there is also the problem of terrible drivers who buzz across parking spaces with no regard as to how lanes work. Parking lots are dangerous places… and people who drive across parking spaces should be dragged out of their vehicles, put on their knees, and executed on the spot.

Reminds me of reports of increasing numbers of people getting Cancer. The researchers would ignore that before antibiotics and vaccines young people died in large numbers due to disease or infection,but now they live long enough to develop cancer. Now a days, EMS saves a lot of stupid people from themselves. A person saved from O.D. continues to walk and drive intoxicated until their luck runs out.

Light clothing does NOT make you visible. Wearing white does nothing. Never assume any driver sees you, but if walking at night have some sort of light or something reflective on your clothing – those will easily stand out. When I drive down suburban streets at night I am 100% focused on looking for pedestrians – and I STILL miss some, even with white clothing on. But I always see the flashlight or reflective clothing.
Here in Vegas it’s like Grand Theft Auto.
If the cars & trucks don’t run you down the motorized scooters, bikes, skateboards, etc will.
Evidently in Vegas you can drive any kind of motorized vehicle on the friggin’ side-walk with reckless abandon at any speed you deem necessary.

Loco: Today in Vegas, on Sunset Blvd, I saw a guy tooling down the traffic lane on a motorized unicycle, weaving in and out of traffic, and running a red light. Crazy town. Can’t wait to get back home.
We had several of these around here, seemed like one every week for a while. Happening at early hours of the morning typically. It’s negligence on both parties likely exacerbated by cell phone use or intoxication, or some combination of poor judgment.
We’ve had a huge homeless population in certain parts of town and several times a “homeless guy on bike” has swerved off the sidewalk right into my lane without a care in the world. And don’t get me started on pedestrians at busy shopping centers, walking like they bear no responsibility while traversing a busy parking lot. Total idiot mindset.
Does this include all those brain dead assholes that participate in those street “events” where these morons will be hanging out of the window of a car doing donuts and shit, or just standing in the way?
I have the Right of Way. I’m Allowed to walk when the light turns green. He’s Got to stop For Me. It’s not my Job to look around and see if Someone is coming. Entitled

Asian deaths holding steady. other races on the rise. could it be iq and or education of the pedestrians. low iq and or poorly educated pedestrians may not have the reasoning or education to safely walk in public spaces nowadays. i know many schools are graduating students who cannot read or write, so a stop sign could be problematic for them.
My money id on asshole pedestrians who think they wear the armor of God as they wander haplessly into the path of cars. As my uncle (a lawyer, don’t disown me) used to say, “There’s two types of right: correct, and dead. Decide which is more important and live with it.”
Where I live it’s meth heads in dark or camouflage clothing late at night walking up and down the road looking for something to steal.
Lower-life people are getting more access to cars (PPP money, welfare, etc.) They get the cars, don’t stop paying insurance and let the registrations lapse but continue driving.
I wish it was because motorists were running over protestors. George Floyd, BLM, “climate change”, take your pick.
In case no one has noticed, the cops are not stopping anyone anymore unless they hit someone or something. Here in Phoenix the azzholes drive like they’re playing a video game with do-overs when it goes wrong. Nobody else matters to them. I’ve been hit in my car twice at stoplights and the bastards run every time.
Never the less, a pedestrian ALWAYS has the right of way.

Some good points here. EV need to make a little more noise. Cell Phone Zombies, Ear Buds. We also need to consider the impact of brain dead liberals. As we’ve seen here on these very pages, they’re getting worse. Also the Illegal Invaders. I don’t know how they’re doing it, but many are soon driving a car. Not good. Most of them were milking a goat last month and driving on our streets this month.
I remember working at Fidelity Investments in downtown Boston back in the 90s when bicycle couriers were blowing up and down the sidewalks and would smash into you. Total disregard for pedestrians. They suck.
Now that I live in the country side of Virginia they travel in packs and restrict traffic.
