2. Not to mention the dangers inherent in a vehicle going way too fast for its safety equipment.
   I visited my sister and her husband in summer 2021. As her husband was driving me to go mountain biking (no batteries!), he told me about a neighbor, 60-ish and in good shape, who had recently bought an e-bike. He was going more than 30, lost control and went over an embankment, sliding pretty far from the road and seriously injuring himself. It was a couple of hours before he was found, he nearly died, and he did lose a forearm. I saw him the next day as he went for a walk around the neighborhood. Drastic consequences. No thank you.

4. Damned E-bikes can burn down your house if you store them inside. Nope, they are not worth it. Kids riding them will get little or no exercise. They’ll end up fatter than us boomers.

5. I’ve posted this story before here but worth repeating. Last summer I’m on my way home through a fairly busy thorough fair in a residential area. I’m approaching an approx 8 year old girl riding an E scooter. She keeps looking over her left shoulder as I’m approaching her behind her in my 6,000 pound truck. Sure enough, the sweet little thing took a hard left, jumped the curb and squirted out right in front of me. I was already slowing down but had to stuff the brakes to keep from hitting her. What kind of parent turns their young daughter loose on these things. They are totally unregulated. I’m a far right conservative with a huge helping of Libertarian. Maybe we need to regulate stupid fucking parents. Hey, at least she was wearing her styrofoam brain bucket.

6. I’m paranoid about these things. I have a few Stihl Li Ion tools that like a lot. However, I store them, and recharge them on a covered cement slab, with nothing combustible within 20 feet. Am I overreacting? I doubt it.

   We just purchased one of the extendable hedge trimmers. What a beast. We charge it outside on a backyard patio table.

8. If you have a vehicle that you want to keep, I think it’s probably a good idea to avoid parking it next to any electric vehicle in a parking lot, even hybrids.

9. I work with Li Ion batteries for my RC flying and boating hobby. The planes are light weight and efficient, so they don’t require big batteries, but the boats are a different story and the one requires about 90amps full speed. I buy quality cells that are up to the task and ALWAYs use battery management boards to charge them with so they don’t get overcharged. Additionally I load test the individual packs to make sure something isn’t deteriorating. I’ve never had a problem because I know the dangers of mismanagement and keep a close eye on everything! Used correctly they aren’t an issue, but don’t take them for granted.

10. My point is don’t use no-name, cheap-ass, crap batteries with over-rated specifications!

11. E-Bikers, PAY FUCKING INSURANCE, ROAD TAX, & ECO FEES!

    At least with a regular bike you have to work to get up to speed.
