That officer had to have a lot of confidence in his shooting abilities. Hope that lady appreciates the risk he put himself in had he been off the mark.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the prosecute the cop in that commie POS city!
In my time as a Defensive Shooter trainer, we always stressed the Mozambique Drill (Two center mass, one head shot) bad guys have been known to wear body armor! It was even included in some of our IDPA competitions.
You never stop training, or you lose the skill…it is perishable!

NYPD use to require a 12 or 14 pound trigger pull. I guess the city council burdened them with that think less ADs. That heavy trigger pull was attributed to many bystanders getting plugged. They finally got rid of that requirement a couple years ago. Just imagine trying that shot with a 14 pound trigger.
That boy’s life got turned around that day.
NYPD must have changed their policy on handguns. At one time they required 10# triggers and when they drew their weapons everybody got shot except the bad guy.
Confusing headline. Was the hostage the mother of the police officer or the mother of the perp?
The perp didn’t double dog dare him, so the cop was wrong.
