  1. “The WindRunner was designed to carry massive wind turbine blades, which are impossible to transport via terrestrial means.”
So I guess as long as the wind farms are being built right next to an airport it should work out.

  2. As it stands now, these giant wind turbines will never, during their 20-25 year lifespan, generate the same amount of energy that went into building them. Wind turbines are a negative benefit – meaning they use more energy than they will produce AND they will be an environmental menace whey they have to be torn down and put someplace.

  3. When the bottom drops out of the bat-chomping, bird-slicing eco crucifix (Thanks Mr. Delingpole) market, and it’s looking a bit creaky already, there’ll need to be an alternate money-making use for these things. I wonder how many wanna-be hajjis could be crammed into one. 2,000? 3,000? Airbus A380s have “officially” carried over 700 but some have estimated a few have been stuffed with close to 900.

  4. Uncle Al, judging by the look of these planes, they are not built to carry relatively heavy loads, instead built to carry long, lightweight windmill wings and towers. I bet this plane could only carry a disappointingly small number of passengers or an unimpressive load of normal cargo relative to its dimensions. It’s literally useless white elephant for any other purpose.

Maybe they should sling those blades under hydrogen zeppelins.

  5. And how would this compare with Howard Hughes “Spruce Goose”?
