BERLIN (AP) – Climate activists glued themselves to the ground at Cologne-Bonn Airport in western Germany on Wednesday, forcing officials to suspend flights for a few hours, authorities said.
Police said five people glued themselves to a taxiway at the airport early in the morning, German news agency dpa reported. Flights were suspended for about three hours from about 5:45 a.m. while officers worked to remove the protesters.
The airport said that 31 flights were canceled and six had to be diverted.
No person should be able to get anywhere NEAR a runway without lax security or lots of help.

But even I am not stupid enough to mix them.
They watched too many episodes of a cartoon created by Ted Turner called “Captain Planer And The Planeteers” to cause this much mental derangement.
Isn’t it time to get tough on these fools? If there is no punishment for poor behavior there will be more of it.

There was a freer time in the early 90’s when I worked for a courier company, and I had to go to Geiger Field in Spokane where I had access to the tarmac to pick up freight from Spokane Airways on a daily basis every morning from Monday to Friday. I had a gate pass and could drive right up to where our small plane and sometimes an old DC 3 would land and deliver their freight. At that time, it was no big deal until 9/11 and since then any freight we pick up has to go thru the airlines on the periphery of the airport in special freight terminals. I miss the freedom we used to have, a friend and I used to go out to watch the planes land in the early 70’s at the end of the runway, if we did that now we’d be busted for terrorism.
Close the runway and leave them there.
Need a C-17 full of American tanks to land & brake HARD over them – runway grease!!!
@Bob M. — C-130 does well on bumpy airstrips, too. I’m sure there are some AF pilots who would welcome the training time/pay and do touch-and-goes for as long as it would take.
Cut them off at the wrist. They will never glue their hands to the ground again… LOL
