A recently unveiled exhibit at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., is showcasing what is believed to be the world’s oldest Jewish book.
The five-inch by five-inch book was unearthed in Afghanistan and is comprised of Sabbath morning prayers, poems that tie back to the Old Testament, and what is reportedly the oldest partial version of the Haggadah, a liturgy recited at the Seder during Passover, according to the museum.
The book, known as the Afghan Liturgical Quire, is believed to be some 1,300 years old and was discovered along what was once the Silk Road trading route. The discovery is part of the museum’s exhibit, “Sacred Words: Revealing the Earliest Hebrew Book,” and will remain on display until January. more

I have no idea how far back the format we call books originated. This may be the oldest I’m aware of. I know they existed well before Gutenburg cranked up his press but those were not common things. This was likely a treasured personal possession.

Occasionally, I wonder what the world would be like today if everybody on Earth could once again witness and nightly gaze upon the open-sky Milky Way and all of the Heavenly Cosmos like our ancient ancestors could commonly see and experience a long time ago and not from telescopes, but actual personal, everyday, real-time observations.
The impression upon their eyes and surrounding Earth environment must have been deeply thought-provoking and which had had to have shaped some deep belief in some Supreme Creator of all they daily saw, heard, touched, felt, smelled, tasted, loved and nightly dreamed about…then dying, still searching.
And yet, still, without an answer, from across the scope of Humankind, who came closest with their many attempts and gifts of their Religious interpretations of such indescribable, breath-taking enormity. So…
Where are we now? When, our past was with the stars.

God’s creation is open for all to see. All of it created by a supreme being and most scientists can’t handle that.
