Do You Eat Fast Food?

This is NOT a judgement post. I say eat what you like. I’m just curious about the price, quality, and quantity of the food at (X) restaurant lately.

If your workplace doesn’t have a fridge, you can’t bring your lunch to work. Or maybe you can’t run home to have lunch- so your option may be fast food or a vending machine.

That said, I can remember when fast food was a “treat” when I was a kid. Not a daily or weekly (or even a monthly) thing like it is now.

McDonald’s Will Likely Revamp Value Meal as Kamalanomics Continues to Strain the Wallets of Lower-Income Customers

(Natural News)—McDonald’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski has announced that the fast food giant will likely “revamp” its value meal as President Joe Biden’s economic program, also known as “Bidenomics,” continues to strain the wallets of lower-income customers.

In July, McDonald’s reported a decline in same-store sales for the first time in nearly four years, a drop attributed to tightened consumer spending following prolonged periods of high inflation. In response, the fast-food giant introduced a $5 summer deal in June, designed to offer an affordable option for customers struggling amid inflation and high interest rates.

The limited-time meal deal, which includes a choice of a McDouble, McChicken sandwich or a 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, along with a small fry and soft drink, has been well-received by customers. And now that customers continue to grapple with economic strain, McDonald’s extended the offering until December. more here

  1. I went to Taco Bell yesterday, got the usual combo of a Burrito Supreme + 2 Tacos. There was only one taco in the bag. Checked my receipt, yep, the combo’s been reduced to one taco.

    FJB, I want my taco.

  2. If you let McD’s track your activity with their app, you can get some very good deals, especially at breakfast. A standard one is any breakfast sandwich for $2.00, and that includes some hefty ones whose menu prices are close to $5.00. If that isn’t enough, at the same time you can get a sausage biscuit and hash brown combo for $2.39. I drink water with meals, so I don’t buy their high-priced meh coffee and the whole tab is less than $5.00 for a LOT of food.

And the you get points for dollars spent, and when you accumulate enough points you can get free food. Every month or so I get a quarter pounder w/cheese for free.

  4. When I was in the Telco I used to open cans of soup with my tape knife. I didn’t even have a spoon. I dragged the shit into my gullet with the same tape knife.

I could eat all day on a dollar.

Coffee in the morning before the sun came up. Can of shit soup in the afternoon, and beer in the evening.

I’m older now. I can’t eat canned soup, or drink beer.

  5. Unfortunately way too often. Although I should pay attention to coupons and such, I don’t.

Unfortunately we pretty much stopped cooking when my daughter joined the air force. We were quite the pair in a small kitchen, and the food was awesome.

Also, things are going on which pretty much eliminated my drive to cook.

So, fast food / restaurants are pretty much all we eat.

So I Keep a few coupons in my car in case I get hungry when out and about.
    I request the senior discount.
And ask for the coupon back so I can use it again.

  7. Mac Fuckholes used to have this bagel thing with shit on a shingle.

I don’t remember what it was called.

But Chico and I, back when we were walking crew, used to load up on the shit-on-a-shingle-bagel, and sorta decent coffee.

Go back to the CO and wake up at 10AM. When the fucking phone rang.

We do less by noon than most people do all day.

  8. Seldom enjoy fast food of any kind, so it is a treat for me.

I drive more than 45 minutes for a grocery store run (big chain, best prices). So, I have enough groceries when I do shop to last me over a week. When I go, if it will be over lunch or dinner, I pack a sandwich and large milk to have while I drive. Just too cheap to spend much money on unhealthy food.

  9. There’s a sub shop just down the street, a local chain. I go in the summer when I don’t want to cook. The prices have gone up and the subs have gotten smaller. There’s also a Wendy’s and a Mickey D’s close by, but after Covid the quality and service suck and what they charge I might as well get a prepared meal from the supermarket.

  10. I don’t have to scrimp any more, but I do. That’s just me. I used to run to the local Sonic on Tuesday night to get the buy-one-get-one-free cheeseburgers. The last time I went, I asked for heavy pickles. When I got home, I discovered I had been charged $1.30 more for two extra pickle slices. That was two years ago, and I haven’t been back. Screw them! Once in a while, I’ll get a bag of Jack-In-the-Box tacos for old time’s sake. Hey, don’t judge me!
