Ford CEO drives Chinese EV as his personal vehicle: ‘It’s fantastic’

The Midwesterner: Ford CEO Jim Farley loves Chinese electric vehicles, particularly the one he flew in from Shanghai that he’s been driving daily for half a year.

“I don’t like talking about the competition so much, but I drive the Xiaomi,” Farley told Robert Llewellyn, host of the Fully Charged podcast, in a recent interview. “We flew one from Shanghai to Chicago, and I’ve been driving it for six months now, and I don’t want to give it up.”

“It’s fantastic,” he said. “They sell 10,000, 20,000 a month. They’re sold out for six months.” more

  1. Has the board of directors fired this guy yet? Do the unions realize what this traitorous piece of shit is up to? The Chinese are building a manufacturing plant down in Mexico and Biden is arranging for the Chinese to ship them here Tariff free. This will destroy our auto industry.

  2. …of course its als interesting he doesnt drive a Ford at ALL…I knew people that worked in a UAW transmission plant in Sharonvolle OH, and they said if someone parked a non-Ford Blue Oval badged car there that unfortunate things would “happen” to it, and there were Epstein level problems with the security cameras when it did…

  3. We cannot make affordable cars in the good ol’ USA because of all the government interference in the marketplace, regulator red tape, wasteful and unnecessary environmental concerns, OSHA overreach, union job rules, greedy lawyers, and expensive insurance. America was not always this way. Now who do you suppose was behind every single movement that made doing business in America cost prohibitive? China maybe? The former Soviet Union?

  4. To the corporate board of directors….fire this asshole immediately.

In a previous life I was a supplier to Budweiser. Their representatives would occasionally come for an audit after which I’d take them to dinner. They NEVER drank anything but Bud and told me drinking anything else was a bad look.

This idiot has no such thoughts.

  5. Good point geoff!
We’ve been checking the origin of foods we buy every week for probably 12 ago or so years now. You never know when the bastards will try to slip chyna shit under the table. Once you do it for a while you kinda know who to trust, but always check periodically cuz Who-Owns-Who is like a shell game anymore these days!
We actually started this after getting some bad frozen fish that was terrible. Looked like American, but only had “Distributed By” creds.
There have been pet food advisories out there too about deceptive origins.

  6. As much as one tries it’s next to impossible to stop progress. Give Tesla a run for the money? Already happening. Maybe Elon should go back home to South Africa & retire. Nixon was the one who wanted to do trade with China. High labor costs & consumer demand for cheap goods helped drive manufacturing out of America.

  7. He’s late to the party. This is classic late 80’s early 90’s bull shit from the Silicon Valley. CEO’s in the valley basically forgot they were U.S. citizens. This is the period of time the Bay Area went communist all in name of profits.

“‘The quality goes in before the name falls off.’”

…you know, its kind of interesting to me you say that. The only Ford I ever bought was a 2012 F-150, its been a pretty decent truck and Im still driving it with 150k on the clock (and its the last year they made steel instead of aluminum beds so I dont see replacing it), but one thing that wore out quick struck me as odd.

The FIRST thing that faded on it was the very prominent blue oval saying FORD on the tailgate.

Seems to me that, the back of your truck being in the cager’s faces behind it so much is a POWERFUL advertising tool, and I would want my LOGO, my corporate identity, to be SUPER pretty and SUPER durable, as a testament to the quality and attention to detail in my truck, so Id make THAT out of titanium and sapphires with the name spelled out in solid mithril, laminated in diamond to dazzle the eye and endure until the truck itself fell to pieces around it, but no, all the color blanched right out and it just looks like the Eye of Sauron after it died, fell into his noisome fields, and got pecked hollow by crows bored with a surfeit of Orc meat; just not a great product placement at ALL, is what Im saying, cant even read the letters any more…

  9. @Jellybean

I think the same. What kind of person would say ‘Boo hoo, crybaby.’ about the destruction of our auto industry?

It’s as if he doesn’t think the Rust Belt is rusty enough. His kind of thinking is ruining Americans’ lives. In 10 days he won’t have much to say, I predict.

  10. I had three GMC pickups. All had Mexican transmissions that failed after 28,000 miles. Engine poppet injectors plugged with check engine light every 3 months. Front seal leaks, rear seal leaks, failed head gaskets at 12,000 miles. Air conditioner leaks required refilling every year. Ford is not alone in building crap. You would think these board of directors that hired those morons would wise up. For some reason, this reminds me of Boeing

  11. Think about everything chinese-built. It’s unfixable cheap shit that becomes trash before long.

Now conceive of millions of automobiles in the landfills. Do the math.
