Former Disney Exec Gives Blistering Criticism of DEI & ESG in Hollywood

Bleeding Fool-

Monica Harris, a former Disney executive, has spoken out against Hollywood’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, arguing that they negatively impact creativity and consumer appeal. In a recent interview with Clifton Duncan, Harris contends that the focus on DEI stifles true artistic expression and leads to predictable, uninspired content that may not resonate with a broad audience.

Harris says “the reason we see no course correction is the same reason we see Target market items — and I think we know which items I’m talking about — that clearly don’t appeal to consumers. I think when you have like trans-Cheerios and stuff like that you’re making a statement that has nothing to do with your audience [and] its tastes. What we’ve seen in the corporate world — and I am going somewhere with this — what we’ve seen in the corporate world is this fastidious and slavish adherence to ESG (environmental social governance) principles, which are really just DEI in practice, in products, and in hiring in the corporate world.” more

  1. I love it when these executive dopes get smacked upside the head with their, “Gee, water is wet and fire is hot, who would have guessed?” moments. Hiring content creators, not for their ability to create content but for some intersectional box they can check off, then cry about it when the brand is damaged, such champions of the obvious, this lot.

Free markets can be cruel and unforgiving, but only to those who do not understand consumers. Folks who don’t like your product will not buy your product. If only the Disney board could figure this out.

  2. This is why our go-to TV viewing is old re-runs of shows, preferably pre-2010.
Yeah, they’re sometimes corny or saccharine-sweet, but at least we don’t have to sit through the crap that is out today!
We mute the commercials, but still laugh because now the clean, articulate black men are the total dumbasses, while their smart & snarky kids and wives run circles around them!

Sadly I find I now qualify as what could be defined as a Racist and Homophobe. Perhaps being dormant and now apparent. Like to believe not considering my friends/relatives over the years. Still…

Anyway, if you put content over personalities/prejudice the you tube is worth a watch following what is started here. Begin four minute mark… Content!

Thanks for that link. Justine Bateman was brilliant and cool in her dry, professional takedown of the many “devastated” female meltdown videos. My laugh of the afternoon.
