Breitbart– Americans may find it hard to get eggs this holiday season because of bird flu outbreaks and the economy.
There has been a shortage of eggs in some stores across the nation, CBS News reported on Friday, noting the businesses in states that require eggs from cage-free hens have been affected by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).
“More than 40% of the nation’s roughly 300 million egg-laying hens are raised in cage-free facilities, but roughly 60% of ‘bird flu’ cases recently detected involved cage-free farms,” the report continued. There have been outbreaks recently in Utah, Oregon, California, and Washington, per Emily Metz, who is the chief executive and president of the American Egg Board.
She added that the reports of shortages are coming from grocery stores such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Meanwhile, shortages related to the virus have caused egg prices to rise, and experts predict the cost may remain high into 2025. more

At $5.09/dozen there were plenty available at my nearest grocery store yesterday.
They had butter at $3/lb. so I stocked up on that.
My grandparents never encountered this problem.
They always had chicken’s so any extra eggs my grandma would preserve by water glassing them.
I grew up with large canning jars full of eggs on the kitchen counter.
They’ll last in a cool dark place up to 18 months.
I remember going with Grandpa to the building supply where he purchased a certain kind of Lime to use for the eggs.
The Vegans don’t care. They use the overpriced artificial egg substitutes anyway.
I remember it was important not to wash off the eggs before adding to the solution. You could brush large pieces of debris, straw away but not wash the egg. You washed it after you removed from jar to fry or however you planned to use it.
A few months ago, eggs were about a dollar apiece here.

I have so many damn eggs I throw them into the woods. Wife has 20- some hens and nobody in the house eats eggs.

Funny, my husband gathered eggs while I was making swiss cake rolls and came in with 3.5 dozen.
I can’t remember now how long it’s been they’ve been claiming this shit and at one point saying even small farmers should have their chickens tested. I said to hell with that and haven’t had chickens falling over.
