There are no proposals to lower the mobilization age before the Ukrainian parliament or the relevant committees, a senior lawmaker said on Tuesday in a denial of media reports to the contrary.
Several outlets in Kiev have reported that the 17th Brigade of the National Guard in Poltava was ready to start accepting 20-year-olds and that a bill to lower the draft age to 18 had been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. more here
What difference would it make if they affirmed it instead of denying it?
The moral of the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf is completely lost on these reprobates. They want to have their cake, and eat it to. No one believes a word they say any longer and they are saddened by that. Too fucking bad, you sonsabitches made your bed, lie in it.
Trust has been broken. The fabric of community has been torn. So, when the wolf really comes, and the shepherd boy earnestly calls for help, the community ignores him. His previous lies have broken the bonds of the community’s eagerness to come to his aid. The relationships and responsibilities of community have been destroyed by the lies of the foolish little boy who never imagined the consequences of his lies.
The truth is that we, as a culture, are drifting further and further from truth-telling. From simple tweets and Facebook posts to the national media to elected leaders to foreign influencers. The simple and not surprising result is a massive and deadly pandemic of mistrust and suspicion that is unraveling our lives together, locally and globally. The blessings of community that used to send us rushing to one another’s aid are withering. We are becoming increasingly isolated and fearful, unsure of whom or what we can trust. So, we hunker down in a protective posture that alienates us from one another, and community dies.
It turns out Aesop, my parents and teachers were right. Lying is a bad thing. It will destroy the very best gifts of our life together.
May we dedicate ourselves to be truth-tellers in big and small ways, convenient or not, for the sake of ourselves and the campus, neighborhoods, nation and world we live in.

But we’ve been told by the media and the government that Ukraine is winning the war! So why would they need to lower the draft age? Sounds like Germany in the spring of 45. Except Zelenski has a better retirement plan than Adolph.

If I were a young man of draft age 18-21 in Ukraine, I’d be looking for every way possible to get the hell out of Ukraine as fast as I could. There’s no sense in becoming cannon fodder in a senseless war.
