Recently found in an attic in Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK: Shakespeare’s Lost Comedy.
Shakespearian experts have long thought that Shakespeare had written an additional comedy that was never found. But it was hiding under some old rags and finally discovered in June 2024.
The manuscript of King Joseph’s Bumm has now been declared an authentic work of Shakespeare.
The outline and characters of the play have been revealed to the public, along with a few opening lines:
Outline of the Play
The King has been ill for a fortnight. His doctor, Boogler, has been trying to get to the bottom of it and heal the King of his ailments. None of the doctor’s medicines heal the King’s condition until he obtains a witch’s potion. Dr. Boogler believes that one of the King’s servants, a wench named Kumala, has introduced fouled meat into the King’s suppers.
Main Characters
King Joseph the 5th
Queen Jill (daughter of the King of Bavaria)
Son Hunter
Kumala, a servant
Dr. James Boogler, Royal Physician
Doffle, Keeper of the King’s Toilet
Floppwell, Keeper and Cook of the Royal Kitchen
Dr. Boogler to Doffle: Doffle, I perceive the King is not himself as of late. He appears quite absent-minded as he meanders about the palace. Have you noticed anything awry in the King’s bowel effluence?
Doffle: I have at that sire.
Dr. Boogler: And what is it that you have seen?
Doffle: Worms, sire, worms.
Dr. Boogler: Well, what do they look like and what color do they have?
Doffle: Sire, they are mostly a deadly green and move about the mass of the excrement under their own power, as if they have small minds that tell them in which direction to advance.
Dr. Boogler: I see. Have you noticed anything else about the King’s bowel movements?
Doffle: Yes, sire. In recent days the smell is most abominable and the quantity is most unusual.
Dr. Boogler: Hmmmm. I shall have a word with the Keeper of the Royal Kitchen, Floppwell, to inquire about the King’s diet of late.
Doffle: Yes, sire.
Etc., and etc.
The play will be performed live Jan, 20th, 2025, in London.
