Historians who have called the 1876 campaign against the Sioux, which included the Battle of the Rosebud and Little Big Horn, The Great Sioux War have been rethinking transferring that title to the Minnesota Uprising.
It was the biggest Indian campaign during the Civil War and led to the postwar camapigns against the Sioux.
And, no, I do not do Lakota or Dakota any more than Dine (what the Apaches and Navajo call themselves).
