Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (Who is currently in Africa) Cut Fire Budget by Nearly $20 Million

Breitbart-

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), who was on a trip to Ghana when fire engulfed large portions of the city, cut nearly $20 million from the city’s budget for fire services for the current fiscal year — and proposed even higher cuts.

As the Westside Current reported in April 2024, Bass proposed about $23 million in cuts to the fire department:

Significantly, the proposal — described by Bass a “reset” — includes $65 million in cuts to her signature Inside Safe homelessness] program; an increase of more than $138 million for the Los Angeles Police Department; and a decrease of about $23 million for the L.A. Fire Department. more

    “DEI.
    DIE.
It’s getting hard to tell the difference.”

…the first one is an attempt to hide the truth of the second…

  3. Yes, he’s a Democrat, but LA missed a great opportunity by going for this obvious diversity hire and rejecting Caruso, a proven businessman who had actual, substantive, outside-the-box ideas to make LA great again.

Too late. They’re stuck on stupid.

“My sister’s fam is in the middle of it all. In the fire warning zone. Praying.”

…my wife has a cousin who lives outside LA as well, a nurse who was unable to recusitate her adult son a few years ago and helped me save the life of my son at a family gathering a couple of years after, and we’re pretty worried for them too. But the same Lord that saw them through that can see them through this as well.

    Let us pray.

Dear Lord, we come before you today for those who are in the path of a deadly danger, one that nen striving valiantly have yet to be able to contain. Lord, we ask that You who masters the storms master those winds driving the fires, guide those who flee from it as You guided Israel from Egypt, hold Your hand over those live in its path, and lend Your strength to those who fight this hellish menace. Please Lord comfort those who have lost, numb the wounds of the injured, guide the hands of the healers to Your good purpose, and give all those who seek You the Blessed Assurance that there is no fire that can conquer Your Spirit, and that there is no inferno that cannot be quenched by Your love, in this world or the next. It is much to ask and we are not worthy but by the Blood of Your Son, so on that most precious Blood we plead for Your saving Hand it this and every situation that arises from the folly of those who would mislead us, in the merciful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

    God Bless,
    SNS

“Prayers for bad-Brad and all iotwers in cali.”

…Brad I belive is north of this particular fire but is always at risk to them, and he has an incredibly brave son who has fought wildland fires out there for some time, so for those and other reasons Brad and his family are in my prayers too, for this incident and any other.

I’m way north. But thanks. While all this is going on the major insurance companies were busy handing out cancellation notices for home owner policies. There’s going to be a substantial number of home owners with no coverage. The timing couldn’t possibly be worse. And the state is responsible for the cancellations. Our leader ship couldn’t have screwed this up any more if the tried. They’ve been talking about putting in water desalinization plants for at least 30 years. No action, all talk. Now there out of water too. I guess you do get what you vote for.
The homeowners insurance is a total train wreck in this state. We didn’t get cancelled but they took our premium from 6K to 10K annually. A 40% increase. And it’s all due to poor legislation and failure of our government to act. Getting rid of all that dead brush might be a major step in the right direction.

  7. Cancel and void Bass’ citizenship and passport so that she’s stuck in Africa with her (apparent) kin.
