The one question I’ve always wanted Corolla to answer is when did he know he was funny enough to do stand-up. I can’t imagine a lot of work getting done on a job site if Adam was was on riff about something. He just takes something so completely ordinary and the next thing you know, you’re laughing. He told the Congressional committee he graduated with a 1.7 gpa. Hard to believe when he has such a quick mind.

I was in design and construction for over 30 years, 25 years self-employed. Most people do not realize all of the hoops which you have to go through and I applied for permits in Toronto, Calgary and now Regina.
I love his comment about the bureaucrats are in the business of making you leave, they do not want you to rebuild. But of course, who are you going to sell the vacant property to? And are you, as the owner, going to continue to pay property taxes on the vacant land? How is it going to be appraised – are the city inspectors going to reduce the taxes because there are no buildings on the property now? I don’t think so – they will still want the same taxes, but you get to pay for the clean-up of the property and you do not get to live there.

@Big Momma — My GC husband decided to retire recently (and now he’s my ‘abused apprentice’ for my jobs, which do not require permits), because the permitting process is out of control now. Additionally, the people who used to know the permitting process have all retired and have been replaced by, as Corolla put it, “28 year-old b-words who will just tell you to F-off!” All cities which, for the most part, are run by ideologues who examine every angle for bending its citizens to the will of their ideologies.
We can only hope this latest catastrophe turns a majority of those Democrat voters against the Democrats in southern CA.
We use a plater/metal finisher located about 1 mile from the beach in Huntington Beach. He’s been there since the early 70’s. They do very difficult state of the art aerospace work. And you pay for it. At times they are the only ones that perform the processes required to finish our parts. That Coastal Commission down there has been trying to put them out of business for years. They started off with demanding weekly visits from Cal Osha and the local EPA guys. They run a super clean state of the art facility. I’ve been there twice, you can eat off the floor. So the EPA and OSHA didn’t work. Last year the 12 angry Lesbians filed a law suit claiming the employees were transferring toxic chemicals to the parking lot when they walked to their cars. And then the car tires were picking up those dangerous chemicals and transferring them up and down the highway. Almost impossible. But he’s lawyered up and has been fighting this bull shit for over three years. I’m sure adding to the costs of what he does for us. These people are nuts. I guess we better call down there and make sure they survived.
